Help me get a better yield (long post)

Hello:

First of all, pictures always help my friend...always.. Do you keep a journal? If so, on what day do they start to flower?
Are the pots right on the floor? You say it's a 'cold' floor. Raise them off the floor a bit..

Yes, the lights could have lost a lot of intensity especially since you have the cool tubes. The glass really cuts down on the lumen output. Not saying that is the issue but at this point not having more information, you have to cover all the bases.

Now, I'm honestly concerned over you usage of 'old' soil. If you've gotten some sort of root eating/destroying pest in there, you're just playing a defeatist game. On the grows you've used the old root balls to compost..have you noticed anything off about the roots?? Any critters...outside of beneficial things?

I'm sure you'll get a crapload of more questions before you can get some solid answers..

Good Luck

As soon as the lights come on I will post pics, I figure Ill keep this as a journal and if people are willing, let you guide me. couple hours till lights come on.

try defoliation of excessive big fan leaves about wk 5-6 for better light penetration overall

Maybe I'm just seeing things right but I really don't see an issue with 'clawing'....I do see some 'cupping' going on and that's the girls transpiring. You said you haven't watered since the 4th, right? Best way to tell if they need water and this sounds damn stupid but really does work, is to just pick up the bucket/pot/bag/container and see how light or heavy it is. By what you say, you've been at this for quite a while so you should know how heavy a nicely watered container should feel. I mean if it's really light, add water.

Also, I don't know anything about your growing habits but you can and most do, crop, trim and fim the plants to make the nodes tighter together and sprout more branches for main cola sites. Training plants will lead to a much better harvest.

Just a suggestion my friend...I'm sure more people will answer and give you more advice. Also, I know what you mean about the soil and the disposal problems. Don't know where you live, don't wanna know and it's no ones business but the point I'm getting at is that most larger cities now-a-days have some sort of recycling program going on. I know my building has those huge trash bins specifically just for recycling. I mean since you haven't had an issue with your soil up to now, it might not be the soil, then again, it might be and there is one solution to a disposal problem. Cruise around and find blue bins or compost piles. I'm sure no farmer would turn down 'free' soil and ask no questions..:)

As I said, I don't really see the clawing you're talking about and yortbogey's suggestion is a damn good one about removing some of those fan leaves to allow more light penetration as well...

Good Luck

you say you "veg them under floro until they need to pot up" ... what do you veg them under after that?

personally looking at distance between internodes there seem to be a lack of light I find one of the biggest factors of yield is tight internode when you go into flowering imho. The plants look really healthy, I would push the limits on the feeding and rearrange the lights to get better coverage

For next round if you really want better yields switch to coco. I hand water and it's basically the same as soil but less problems. I water once a day with a nutrient solution. Plants will grow way faster and get way bigger. I second the defoliation advice too.

Disclaimer: Im a terrible grower.
If your plants are yellowing early you might want to supply them with a little more N into the first couple weeks of flower. Plants use up a lot of stored N when producing flowers.
Your stems are so skinny that your plants couldnt support much weight. Id also suggest increasing your veg light or decreasing the distance plus adding silica.
EDIT: Thats not the claw up there. The claw is sharp bend. Once you have it you will always know what it looks like though

hehe..yeah,, okay.......:) everyone is a comedian these days..

It's just the same as when someone calls me an asshole. My answer is "How dare you cut me short of the full credit I'm due. I'm a whole ass!"

:D

Peace and love people.....peace and love

I think it's lighting issues.. The plants overall look healthy but they are tall and lanky from growing up trying to get closer to the light. Forget the flouros and start vegging them under MH wen they get their 3rd set of leaves, you will get a much faster rate of growth and bushier plants with tighter node spacing.

Cheers
