Help me find a SunSystem 500 Glass Insert please!

Hello everyone,

I have a "SunSystem 500" and it has the ballast built right into the socket, it's all one unit, ballast and socket/bulb are not separate. Anyway, there is space for a glass insert to block heat, and I cannot find it anywhere.

I have tried SunSystem, local glass companies take about a month (hopefully going to start sooner than that), tried Google, etc. If anyone by chance has the same setup and can help me out that would be great, I am going crazy here trying to find one without having one custome made, paying an arm and a leg, and waiting forever...

Depending on how hot you'll get you may not need tempered glass which makes custom glass MUUUCH cheaper.

If you do need it to be tempered, shop around and BARGAIN with the shops. I have had glass done for about 1/2 what I was initially quoted just by calling around and starting a price war.

mrred: I know there are no vent holes but I figured the vents on the sides and front would be enough. I have looked everywhere man, the light would be awesome if it had the glass insert but without it you can't get the plants as close.

geopolitical: It looks like going to a custom glass place is what I am going to have to do if I can't find one that is designed exactly for the light. It does have to be tempered - I called a few hydro shops and did some research, and it gets kind of pricey.

It has the lip all around it, so you can just slide in the piece of glass and everything. I am almost positive that someone has to sell it, anyone else running one of these lights?

measure the slots and length needed, ill see if any of mine are the same, i can find glass for mine online for 20-30

mrred: I believe I measured it before and it was like 15" x 17" or something, but I am not sure and don't have access to a tape measure at the moment. I will take the measurements and get back to you. Thanks so much!
