help make this an sog cab

So currently i have one grow under way, which is just some bagseed that i found. I build a cab, but the one i build does not suit my situation as i had planned. THe current box is 3'Hx3'Wx2'D. I would like to get somthing not quite as big, so i have found a cabinet at lowes i plan to get. i was going to post a pic of it, but it wont let me. The cabinet is 70.5in Hx23.75in Wx16.5in D.

I would like to make it into a flower area, then a mother/clone area on the top. I plan to grow using cfl's. I would like to run floro tubes or cfl's in the mother clone area to keep heat under control. What size exhaust would i be needing for a cab this size using no more than about 200 watts of cfl's? Also would i need a separte exhaust for both the flower area and the mother/clone area or just one a the very top of the cab? I would like to harvest once a week, or once every two weeks yeilding about 1/4 to 1/2 oz each week. Any tips and thoughts would be great sorry this is so long. I plan to go buy it in the next few days and want to get some suggestions before i go buy it.

Hello richirich_99.

It sounds like you might want to read up a bit before you get started.

You should decide on what you want to do for lighting before you get going. Then you can determine what kind of cooling and ventilation you will need for the box.

I would suggest looking at some of the other cabinets and designs in the forums to get an idea for the wattage and ventilation you should be looking for.

Also, I think you may be a bit confused about harvesting marijuana and the amount of yield you can expect from 200w:
"I would like to harvest once a week, or once every two weeks yeilding about 1/4 to 1/2 oz each week."

Normally harvesting is not something that is done on a weekly basis (or even bi-weekly) unless you have a rather large operation as you would need plants that were done flowering at exactly the right time to keep this going. It sounds like you are wanting a perpetual grow within a cabinet, which can be done. I hope that you understand, that you cannot simply harvest your bud from a flowering plant and expect that it will grow back in a week, two weeks, or even a month.

Do yourself a favor and slow down a bit, soak up the forums, and check out some more cabinet threads before you go dropping some $$ on a 6' cabinet at Lowes.

Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

Good luck!

I mentioned in my post that i plan to grow with cfl's because hps/mh would just be too much heat, and cfl's are cost effecient for me as well. I have been reading many threads on cabinets, and have been reading for months at grasscity as well. I already have 2 mother plants and 4 clones vegging right now in my current box. I guess what i want is a perpetual harvest. I have read many of Dr.Buds post, and like his way of growing.
I would like to be able to harvest a few plants every week or two, so i would have plants at all different flowering times in the box. My main concern for this cabinet is ventilation. How would be the best way to exhaust/intake this cab? I currently have a 80 CFM inline duct fan, but plan to get something much better for this cab. Just not sure how many cfm's i would need...i also plan to use a DIY carbon scrubber. I was thinking about using my inline duct fan for an intake, along with a few other passive intakes. Im still not clear, can i exhaust this entire cab from one exhaust, or will both the flower area and mother/clone need its own exhaust? Thank you for your help Quazi and i will continue reading as much as i can.

Anyone got any tips/advice? Thanks a lot everyone.

So i have made a few changes to this cab. I had to make one shelf permanent to make the entire cab more sturdy. I will be using the top to flower in, with about 3ft of height. The bottom will be my veg/mother/clone area. I would like to let plants veg a week or two before i put them in flower if i can keep them within my height limits. My concern is now my ventilation. I was planning on buying two 200cfm comp fans one for exhaust in each area, then using passive intakes, or possibly my 80cfm inline fan. Will these be enough to exhaust the areas? I plan to make a DIY scrubber for the flower chamber. Thanks again to everyone who helps out.
