Hi friends

I have planted my seeds in bad batch of soil and I need to transplant them asap
They've been vegging for quiet some time now and they are developing really slowly and showing some bad signs (well, not all of them)
They are in 2galons smartpots so Ill need to take them out, clean their roots and plant them in new soil

Ill need your help to guide me and tell me what mistakes not to do, cause this will be my first time doing this and atm its very important for me to do it efficiently and to save all of my plants
So any input will be good :thank you:

Are you feeding? 2 gal smart pots are big enough to grow plants to harvest, but yes, larger is better, within reason. When you transplant, don't clean soil out of the roots. Try to keep it intact, and place as is into new pot and fill with medium, firming [not packing] it. No need to transplant unless it is root bound. Google how to. Many tutorials with pics available. Good luck. -granger

The problem was because the soil was very bad. Anyway, I cleaned the roots and transplanted them into new soil so we'll see what happens. 2 are looking fine, and other 2 are showing sings of stress. I hope all four will recover completely.

cleaning the roots off will shock most plants i find a light dose of seaweed, silica and potash foliar sprayed and watered into the roots very beneficial in transplanting.

good luck and hope all pull through

thanks mate

the biggest problem was in guessing how much their roots filled the 2 gal containers, so I could pull them out safely without damaging them

2 plants had stronger roots, so i cleaned them partly - I made free only tips of roots to help em grow into new soil and after one day they do look good (also putting out new grow)
2 other plants were smaller and had undeveloped roots so I cleaned them much more, one is looking fine, and other is kind of struggling but I believe shell be good

now I just have to wait to see will they grow normally and fast enough, their growth was very slow in previous soil and this time I made sure soil is good and fresh

i have been recycling my soil now for 4 - 5 years...i just amend every time a new plant gets put in the pot...

If you must clean soil out of roots, use a gentle rinse.
absolutely....place the rootball into a bucket of water and allow the dirt to fall off with only minimal handling

I also have a clone planted in my old organic mix from my previous grow and its doing great, just started to shoot pistils :)

if I knew, I could have used that soil for seeds and never get into this troubles..

thanks for the tips on cleaning roots, Ill know for next time for sure :thank you:
