Please help me understand what I am doing to my girls. I am a new grower and am in the learning process. The plant in question is the 2nd set out of 3 I have going. There are several things I don’t understand but have learned a lot from the knowledgeable veteran growers on this site. Below is all my info to date. Some other questions I have are. The most obvious why do my fan leaves look the way they do? Why are the fan leaves growing in an upward manner? When flushing how long after should you see a rebound? Can flushing hurt the plant? Why and how? I know my pots are small is there a way to compensate for that? And I am sure more ?’s will come out during this thread. So here it is. Any guidance is great. The pics below are the same plant in question. 1st pic is her. the 2nd it the top right fan leaf. 3rd is the 2nd leaf down on the left. and the 4th is on from my 1 st that is about a week out from harvest. The pic is a few weeks old. If there is any noticable things that should be pointed out with the 4th pic PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POINT THEM OUT.

SOIL:
How long has this problem been going on? Noticeable in the last 3 days
What STRAIN are you growing? No clue it was given to me for my first grow.
What was the establishing technique? (Clone)
What is the age of your plants? 56 days from clone
How Tall are the plants? Around 17 inches
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Flower
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) Sorry but I am a newbie maybe someone can educate me on these terms, but they are just in pots.
does SOG mean Sea of Green then yes that is the technique i am using.
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) I know this is one of my contributing factors to my problems but due to room constraints they are in 5-inch square pots.
What substrate/medium are you using? Fox Farm Light Warrior
What Nutrient's are you using? Fox Farm Nutes Big Grow, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom How much of each with how much water? I follow the feeding schedule from FF. How Often? For the last 2 feedings they have been feed once a week and plain water in-between as needed
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?. Not sure what the acronyms stand for but when I mix my nutes I use my digital PH meter and they run 6.4
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? 6.8
What method of pH test was administered? pH pen
How often are you watering? It runs about every day to every other
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? The last time was 3/18 2 days ago and the time before that was 3/13. But the next day I was worried I was over feeding (this is when I got the ph pen) so I flushed the next day and charted ph r/o and this plant was 6.5 on 3/14
What size bulb are you using? Not sure size but it is a 600 w HPS
What is the distance to the canopy? About 16 inches
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) 40 to 48%
What is the canopy temperature? No clue
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) Daytime 76 to 81 deg fer Nighttime 68 deg fer pretty consistently
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) not sure cfm but air flow it very good
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? Indirectly
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? Moist. I try to wait to water when they feel light and when the top begins to feel dry
Is your water HARD or SOFT? On the hard side with a ph of 7.4 after sitting for 24 hours
What water are you using? Tap after sitting 24 hrs
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? No
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? A light spray of Serenade on 3/5
Are plant's infected with pest's? No (Never were using the Serenade was a preventative measure.) I used a very light spray.

Hey Kief,

I'll try to tackle your ?'s as best I can.....

Your fan leaves look 'that way' because of a nute def/lockout. They are light green indicating they may not be getting the nutrients they need. One suggestion I almost always make is - refer to the sick plants guide... you will quickly spot a matching pic and be able to diagnose the issue.

Leaves growing up - this could be due to aspiration.... I noticed you did not put a canopy temp in there, yet you did put an ambient one. This leads me to think you do have a thermometer in there and can take a reading of the canopy.. just put the probe near the tops of your plants during lights on and take a reading... higher temps can cause this.

Flushing can hurt the plant as it can drown it... bud loves to get wet then pretty much completely dry out before the next watering. If you flush her, this can upset the cycle and put her into shock - so flush only when needed and try to keep with the normal watering cycle.

If you have small pots and want to put her in a bigger one - transplant her. Simple as that.

Lastly, your final picture looks to me to be on the edge of being burnt. If you are that close to harvest I would hope you've flushed and remove as much of the nutes as possible... this will cause the plant to feed on itself and the leaves should begin turning a lighter green/then brown... however, yours are a deep dark green, which is usually tied to over fert/burning the lady.

Thanks for the info BL. Hopefully I can pick your brain some more.

I have spent a lot of time in the guide. Diagnosing the issue is one thing. Once that is done how do I go about correcting the problem?
Tonight I tested the r/o of the plant above and it read 7.1 with just watering. I have been reading about PH up and down products. Should I be using this when I am using plain water to bring my ph down? I am not too sure how to correct my ph of the soil so they are not locking out nutes…..

I do have a thermometer that sits 9 inches from the top of the plant and it never goes over 81 degrees fer. I have a multitude of thermometers in both my veg and my flowering rooms so I can know the temp at different levels in the rooms.

How do you know when you need to flush? When is flushing a procedure you should do (outside of having nute burn)?
When is the best time to feed/ water? I have been sticking with about a ½ hour into lights on. Is this good?.

Thanks for the continued help.

PLEASE HELP!!!!! SHE IS GETTING WORSE

PLEASE HELP!!!!! SHE IS GETTING WORSE

:fsu: I am not sure if this is nute deficiency or lock out. I am nervous about doing anything without knowing what the problem is.

Hey there, few things I want to point out is; you never want to follow fox farm's feeding regimen ever; 95% of the time I always see a burn eventually.....

Sounds like to me you can't avoid a flush; I would flush with water dude to try to rinse out excess like archivist has stated.

I am learning that the ff sched is too much for the plants. This plant has been flushed. Could this be the atfer effects of the nute burn just working through the plant? I am thinking that 1 feeding a week with water the rest when needed which seems to be every other day might be the way. Again what do i know..... What regiment have you seen that works well with the FF products?

i've the same exact problem: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=84968

I think it's connected with, maybe, an excessive Calcium in the water.

Maybe.

Anyhow i'll wait for an answer with you.

From your thread it does sound like we have the similar problem as well as the similar resolve. Tonight when i went in things didnt seem to get worse so that feels good. I also went out and got ph up and down to help with my ph adjustment. Any advise on using these products for a newbee?
