What's new

Hello from Germany!

Hey everyone,

just wanted to say hi.
I’m Martin, 41, from Bergisches Land (51°N) in Germany.

Started popping seeds when I was 16, been growing pretty much continuously since then mostly indoor, smallscale, but also loved growing on my rooftop terrace, sometimes with a plastic tunnel, sometimes without. Was all mineral all the years.

Last few years kinda lost the passion a bit, was just focused on getting smokable buds without too much trouble.
Two years ago we moved into a house with a garden, and due to health reasons I had a full year to myself. Somehow ended up digging deep into cannabis again, plants, gardening, soil, compost, genetics, everything....

Now I’m super stoked to start fresh again. Honestly, I feel like a kid before his first grow, excited about all the new stuff I wanna try out, the epic fails I’ll (hopefully) learn from, and all the cool things I'm gonna discover along the way.

This year I’ll be planting straight into garden beds for the very first time. So far got some Leb27 and Bangi Haze germinated two weeks ago. Still got room for one more—thinking about doing a little experiment, maybe preflowering a pure sativa indoors and then moving her outside right after the summer solstice. May fail :)... dunno.
Sad to say I've always avoided long-flowering sativas. In fact, pretty sure I've never even grown a pure sativa at all.
Got a lil bit triggered lately when I realised sativa flower (without tobacco) has very good effeect on my daily nocturnal frontal lobe seizures. Was a big missconcecption thinking when i have problems with sleep i should use indica for it.

Right now I’m running 5 Purple Haze Thai x DoubleJam indoors, mainly to test if I've done my homework and can handle getting these long-flowering plants to fully mature.

Kinda feel bad I never got active in forums and communities before.
Spent countless hours reading through decade-old threads from start to finish. Seriously grateful to everyone who contributed so much knowledge here, hope this treasure stays around forever!!

Greetings
Martin

Tyvm,

i did 3 Kalashnikov Seeds - Big Altai Sativa Express last year.
Wasnt that early like i hoped. :)
Pictures on lawn are 27.09.2024.

Was 3 Phenos:
One with dense low trichome buds finishing between WK 1 and 2 of october only outdoor. Not that tasty but good daysmoke. Got small botrytis spot on mainbud mid september, so i had to cut it.

The other 2 i then moved to garage until last days of october.
Dont think it would have worked out well otherwise - weather was a mess.
Probably not perfect environment to ripen ... too 2 warm in "night", couldnt get it down.

One was superstretchy and more sativa look. Small long flowers with lot of trichomes. Lil bit more tasty and stronger smoke. Lost/Removed all nonbud leaves due to septoria starting mid september.

And the other one was a fking beast. Fluffy, super resinous buds, complete different taste and a wonderfull smell. If setting is not perfect it has potential to give me a really bad trip :). But I like it. smoking it daily. No botrytis.
I think I dont try FF with ruderalis inside in near future (oh just one clone of the late pheno :p )
Really excited about that Leb27.

This time i felt like 1. week of october was the absolute maximum for these to stay mold free.
Wanna see this year what some longer flowering plants like the bangi thinks about this.

The 2 bushy are in 45l pots, the stretchy in 35l.
It was Lightmix with wormcompost and a little bit of DCM granulate fertillizer.
Started using canna bio after a while.

And probably overdosed N , was wondering about early leaf yellowing.
But only selected leafs. Realised to late that it was bc i burned my roots exposing these black pots to full day of sun.

This year first time no bottled ferts!

Right, will be interesting to see your grow. Do you have a solution for the heating issue? Maybe just burry the containers, e. g. pull some plugs of your garden and when finished growing put them back in. I thought about using thermal foil. The theory sounds plausible.

You will continue using DCM?

Short term I used the pictured solution :) .
Strawmat is enough i think. There are also white plastic mortar tubs around.

I have 20kg left of the DCM 7-6-12+4mg. Its not strictly organic, but it has a reasonable amount of organic material inside. Bought it last year during my process of gathering information how i wanna change my growing habbits. Wouldnt buy it again after thinking some weeks more tbh :).
Too processed, coming from another country, only 25kg packs, there must be better ways.

Not going to use it as standalone main component but adding it and maybe using it as autumn fert for the lawn.
Y, I am really thinking about digging holes in the lawn and using pots with some added sideholes for 3 additional potted plants to prevent them from getting to big, falling from wind and heat :dunno: .
Also for my beloved brugmansia.

Prepared the beds with some
Softrock phosphate, alfalfa pellets, leonardite with clay, gypsum, worm compost, rockdust, rice hulls, and vinasse granules and a bit dcm so far.
Also added lithothamnium, the beds were covered for years with weed plstic and bark and PH ~5.
