Wow I would for sure go with a 18000 BTU. That 12000 will be running all the time. Hopefully that 26 seer saves ya with it running like that.

12000 btu running 12 hours a day /26 seer
18000 btu running 8 hours a day /16 seer

Probably brake even maybe but I know which will last longer.

Maybe someone`ll send me the pics in pm..sniff sniff....

It`s a no-brainer to go with the 18000 btu unit if it`s couple hundred bucks cheaper Bro , but here`s the thing.....

Each 1 KW bare bulb requires 4000 btu`s of cooling and dehuey`s range up to high wattage/heatgain if in the same room with the plants so.....

Let`s say that your dehuey`s up to 1500 watts of heatgain in said room and needs 6000 btu`s of cooling to offset it with another 8000 btu`s needed for the bulbs and you`rre undersized from the get with the 12000 btu unit...now that`s just for instance cuz I don`t know the spec`s on yer dehuey......but...

I missed the part about the dehuey bein all the way "inside" the grow area and even though the CO2 will be thru-wall , I`d see if yas couldn`t do the same thing with the dehuey so all heat exhaust will be outside the room as well , and then the 12000 btu unit would more than do the job for yas....but again...

Not sure yas can do it with your dehuey cuz all makes and models abound and are all built differently....anyways...

Quit crawfishin and crabbin goin sideways and backwards and buy the cheaper 18000 btu unit with inverter technology FTW and git `er done.....

Used ta be overkill`s not a good thingy with oversized A/C`s and smaller sq ftg , but with the new mini-splits with said inverter tech , it only makes sense ta get the cheaper LARGER unit so it won`t haveta work as hard to do it`s job and last LONGER as Mr D`s suggested even though Evlme knows his shit......

The dehuey`s the variable in the equation FHC.....always been prudent to air on the side of bigger`s better for all grow related shit EXCEPT A/C IME...in the past...but now....

Bigger`s better with the mini-splits for added environmental insurance........anyways....

Good luck....Freds....:ying:....

That's just how I explained it to FHC in pm. When sizing my a/c I like to figure an extra 1000 btu's over whats recommend per light to account for equipment (i.e 4k btu per 600 and 5k btu per 1000). Just makes more sense with the inverter tech to oversize a bit so your a/c isn't ever struggling, even on those freakishly hot days. As said things last longer when not pushed to the max all the time ;). Those high seer units are attractive, but only if the btu rating matches with the amount of light and equipment being run. Besides it's never a good idea to try and save a couple watts at the cost of total enviromental control. Especially when you consider a an 18k btu inverter a/c that is only putting out 14k btu isn't using full power while it does it. Evlme2 stated there maybe higher btu units released by years end .
I'll probably be tempted to try one when that happens, but then again all my friedrich's have been bullet proof since day one.

Glad I raised the question, overkill is better with inverter tech, check ebay out for prices and if you can contact the company directly instead of going threw ebay its cheaper, plus you can ask the company directly for a discount for even bigger savings. Thats what I did

FWIW Seer is actually does not matter at all for grows. Our head load is a constant so what matters is EER and inverter tech. EER is BTU's per watt of power used. Inverter tech keeps the compressor from cycling on and off which is a motor load. Motors can pull upwards of 150% of there rated power while getting up to speed. Also very important is inverter tech helps keep temperature swings to minimum.

Thanks for your input on the Adub FHC helped me making my final choice on clones.

Hey there guys... sorry, got company in town for the 4th of july festivities. Been super busy havin fun and destroying my liver. :dance013:

I already chopped the gc wall, but have another week on the remaining 3 walls.

The plants have been on RO topped off water for the past week, ppm's down in the 350 range. The leaves are fading and the colors are starting to really come out.

I'll see if i can get some pics up tonight.

Happy 4th yall!
