Hello Folks and Welcome to my thread.
I had an account here years ago and have read off and on since then, so I feel like I know most of y'all, anyhow...
I'm a Colorado Native and Disabled Vet.
This site is Great and everybody that posts here adds to the Greatness.
Good Luck And Karma to anybody that drops a bean or plants a clone this year.

My outdoor adventure for 2013 starts.......
now :plant grow:

On Deck I've got a dozen clones, all well rooted in 1" rockwool cubes that tonight, were planted into cups of Ocean Farm. 4 ea. of Chem Dawg, Sour Sage and The Tang. (Tange?) These are clones that I got from a clone vendor so the genetics are not know by me and I can only hope for the best. I also dropped 10 unknown bag seeds to soak that I've saved over time. I only kept it if it was some killah so hopefully I'll find a gem there.

These ladies will be planted in the same secure area I used last year. Some direct sunlight is sacrificed due to the limitations of the situation but it is what it is & I was pretty pleased with my outcome last year.
(this pic is of the clones I planted on the 4th of July '12)

Last year I dug 2 trenches and I think I put the plants 18" apart, 6 in each trench and then I ran 3 off to the side of the North trench. The trenches were a foot wide and 18" deep. I filled them with Ocean Farm 70%, 20% native soil and 10% hydroton. As I said above, the position of this area loses some direct sunlight and it is shown here in these pictures very well. The sun actually split the trenches right down the middle. The panda'd fence is North and the sun progression to the south will show through these grow photos....

I'm posting my grow from last year in the hopes that some outdoor pros will drop some knowledge, advice, opinion or any combination of the above and help me in my quest to become a better farmer. :tiphat: I'll probably crack off a few more specific question here in a bit....pardon my rambling. This would probably be easier if I didn't have 4 tabs of IC open. :joint:
So last year I ran 3 God's Gift, 3 Golden Goat, 3 Sour Willy, 3 Elephant Bud & 3.....I can't remember right now...I lost a Gift, 1 Elephant and 1 of the unkowns that were replaced later by a Grape Ape, a Chem Dawg and a Blueberry.

My grow area is appx. 8' x 16' with the south side bordered by the garage. The back fence of my yard is 60' and until recently only had a 4' chain link fence. It is now 6' privacy as well, but when I built this area last year, and even now, the area I chose is the most viable option. I built the area using very basic materials in just over a weekend with help from a couple of buddies.
A quick list of what I used...
3 12' chain link fence top poles, cut in half
12 8' 2" x 4"
4 8' 1" x 4"
A bunch of fence boards
25' x 10' Panda
Roll of 1/2" metal strap with holes in it
Post driver
Box of screws
After driving the posts into the ground a couple of feet in the appropriate spots I strapped the 2x4 to the posts at the top and the bottom. After setting the end slats I connected those with a 1x4 and used that for the top support. Really simple and I had most of the stuff in the garage so it worked out great and was relatively inexpensive. The gaps in the fence boards were as tight as I could get them but if you really try to look you could see through so by putting the Panda up with the white side in, it served 2 purposes. I lined the east and north fence of the area with it and it is impossible to see into and bright inside. The open end of the west faces my sunroom/back of the house and that's why I left the big gaps there and for air flow. I also ended up putting chicken wire over the top because I was worried about the squirrels. Little fuggers ate everything in the veggie garden last year....
Man, lookin' at these pics from last year has me stoked to get this season crackin'!

That last post was a little long winded...and I need to repack this bowl. Here's a few more in the progression. I was giving these ladies kelp and used an outdoor fert my little brother gave me for most of summer....

I just realized I've been making this post for almost 3 hours and then I thought about Spicoli hitting himself in the head with that shoe and saying:
"That was my skull!"
Ha! I'm so high. Wuddup folks? :canabis:

So I had these ladies treating me like they loved me...no issues whatsoever. Beautiful, noticeable growth daily. All along the way I was just as happy a fat kid eating a cupcake. And all of this is going to come to a very sudden....unexpected ending here shortly because Mother Nature is getting ready to show me who's boss.

The pooch above is Harley, a Morkie I took from my mom because he was a crate dog for the 2.5 yrs before I paroled his lil' ass. I always had a dislike for the canine of the smaller variety but, this lil' dude changed my views. He's an awesome dog.
But I digress....on with the show. :dance013::blowbubbles:

This 80's station on Pandora and the Spicoli reference should date my old ass...but this ol' Jack & Diane is still the jam. And I will karaoke the shit out of some Cougar, don't get it twisted. :peacock:
(FTR: I only karaoke if drunk and I don't ever get drunk anymore.)

The purple girl that I took so many pics of was just a beautiful plant. Late to the show and never did do much beside being crazy colors that contrasted against the other ladies like none I had ever grown before. I don't think these colors exist on an artists pallet. :artist: None of these pics were altered in any manner.

So after getting this up, believe it or not, I actually will post some questions seeking advice and opinions on some things. However, I'm draggin' ass and there is no way that I could possibly remember what the hell I want to ask right now. My brain is :smoky:.
I look forward to watching other grows here this season as I try to do my thang right along with y'all. I'll be in threads signing on instead of just lurking over the next few days.

Hazy Eye, Damned Glad Ta Meet Ya.

Cleaned up the area a bit this morning and did a few other things out in the garden. Doctor appt. this afternoon so I'll get some more work done after that. Got the clones sitting out in the sun for the next couple of hours and found I need to tighten the panda up a little bit. Work to be done but man, I love getting back outside and working on a grow.
A few pics of the situation here and I'll follow that up with some questions seeking some advice.

Pic1 is of the grow area, appx. 8' x 16'.
Pic2 is from the porch looking back and shows the new 6' running the length of the backyard now. Also my veggie garden area.
Pic3 is of the stuff that's in the ground. 4 different tomatoes, 3 different peppers and the box is strawberries.
Had a flat full of starter plugs with corn and cukes and beans that was doing great until Mrs. Hazy put them out in the sun with the lid on them for the afternoon. Killed 'em all deader than shit so that plan didn't pan out. :tumbleweed:

Gotta get a new flat crackin' asap.

After reading my rather lengthy post, if you're still with me, I appreciate it. :tiphat:
If you have any recommendations, opinions, tips, IME's, views or just want to tell me to go jump in a lake, feel free.

My current plan is to dig out about 10 gallon sized holes and mix them with fresh Ocean Farm and Perilite w/ some native soil. Similar to what I used in the trenches last year at about 70/20/10.

What type of stuff might you suggest I also throw in the hole? I've got a little money I could throw at them but not much.

In order to maximize sun exposure, my idea is to shift everything to the North a foot or so. Doing so is going to put the plants closer and probably touching the panda'd fence....is this going to cause issues? Is there any steps I could take to avoid potentials problems like moisture from transpiration & molds? Is it as simple as using LST or trimming to just keep them away from the fence?

I'm also considering running fewer plants instead of the whole dozen there and just spacing them differently. How would you suggest that I space them in the area? They were all near 6' last year and with an extra month this year, as well as a better feeding plan, I expect similar/better results. I will be topping and fim'n and training them to be more bushy this year as I had to chop and top some stuff late last year that I don't want to do again. Any opinion on the space I should allow between them? If I put them at 18" again, I'll probably just use the trench because otherwise, the holes just bleed into each other anyhow.

Gotta run and hit this appt. up. Back Later with some more Q's.

Happy Gardening! I hope everybody has a Great Season!

:tiphat: Thank You for saying so dickcorn. I think the problem was that folder was set on Private. I hope setting that to public has fixed it.
If someone could post and let me know if that worked I'll say "Werd to your Mutha."
Also, It is only posting the little thumbnails in the thread, could somebody let me know how to just upload the photo and bypass the album part of it & post the bigger pix?
Thanks in advance for any help.

So after doing a little digging, I found my old account. I don't have access to the account and it hasn't seen action for over 3 years. Am I breaking some rule about having multiple accounts? Could a Mod let me know if so? I'll gladly give up the info and do what I need to do in order to take care of this problem.
:thank you:
(FTR: I got the pic thing figured out too. Photobucket FTW.)
