greetings to all haze lovers, i enjoy reading about all the passion out there for the magic.
someone mentioned the paranoia associated with haze which is an interesting comment from my perspective. i think that comment may be true of high quality sativa in general but i wanted to point something out about the original haze that i know from years back.

it was never a plant that one could call stable from the standpoint of identical phenotypes so i think trying to label or categorize it may not be meaningful.

the paranoia was not something that many felt, thou some did no matter what they smoked. however, many of todays hi quality strains i find a bit heart pumping and paranoia. more so than the haze, which is one reason i am searching.

the effect, regardless of which color you were smoking because it was really broken down by color, the leaf structure was always the same, the coloring and density was a variable.
but the effect was pretty uniform had little to no ceiling and was always very stimulating.

the stimulation would vary depending on the scene, maybe it was a marathon honeymooners and sgt. bilko session, or basketball, or surfing, music etc. But never sent you into couch lock.

a comment about growing it, we never used any bottled nutrition, EVER, at least i didn't.
everything was in the ground, the recipe of which is on the haze poster somewhere on imag. all we did is water it, that's it. MN, as someone so aptly put it does the heavy lifting.
I say this to encourage everyone to stop buying pixie dust at the grow store for hundreds of dollars you don't need it, even thou i know it works, it works without it.
Haze plants were hardy and we never had any disease issues until late in the year because of cold temps, which we augmented.
bottom line, try running the plant in the LIFA method, leave it the fuck alone.

The plan:

I sprouted beans from the originals gifted to me. I also sprouted beans from the last run where I crossed the best male to the best "little" female. So my plan is I hope to get a Male or Female (doesn't matter) of the "ORIGINALS" gifted to me and then an opposite sex of the incross of which I did on the last run and breed them together. The resulting seeds are the beans that will go to the HAZE crazed masses.

It is going to be interesting to see if people will keep these beans seperate and grow them as is for generations, or if people will do things like make crosses to Tom Hills' Original Haze, Ace Old Timer's Haze or even things like SSH.

I am not qualified to speak on the issue of breeding, my involvement with the original haze was simply a stroke of good karma, or at least i like to think of it that way. I was just a kid
living next door to the guru! Learned lots but was excluded from any bean making at that time and respected the wishes of the bean provider.
As to your comment about continuing to breed the same line without crossing, i will point out that one of the weakness's of the haze as things developed was that it became what
i would assume you would describe as in bred, as it started to loose it's robust growth characteristics. I don't know enough about genetics but i'm certain the many experts out there do. I've been told that pollinating with the same male genetics over and over to it's progeny will develop a stable seed but i really don't know.
I enjoy popping beans, it's like the lottery you never know who is going to show up and if you pop enough you will always find a gem. Growing the same thing over and over seems a bit boring unless it's how you make a living and then i can understand the reasoning.
here are a couple of my current ladies.

I've been in :lurk: mode here, enjoying the show, but seeing happyhi's use of airpots, I just have to ask, "are they worth it"?

I'm just starting to grow pure sativas indoors, and will work my way up to the Hazes. In the meantime, I look forward to the "inspiration" you all provide!

airpots work imo, they are very sturdy and seem to prevent any root swirling
at the sides, and i think dissipate heat a bit better. i prefer them to smartpots because the sides are too soft for my tastes. i move things around alot so i like a sturdy container. for a plant that is done in 50 days or even less in don't think it matters, for a plant that needs 90 to 120 days to finish i think they may help a bit.

Im growing out my first haze now. I have a beautiful Oldtimer's haze flowering now. First haze grow. I also have a Viet Dalat, turning out beautifully. Shes looking very Haze Dom. I cant wait to taste these. I have plenty of seeds left for another run if I think they are worth the while

JLP gave out some phoenix haze f2 seeds a time ago. This is what some of those seeds are looking like now. I reallly like the neville's haze phenos that are 75% neville's or more. Really only one looks much like super silver and that is the second picture here. All of them have this intense smell I never found anywhere before. It's like skunky, meaty, buttery tropical dankfruit. That's the best i can describe it but it is intense. Very hardy and pest-resistant also. . . I just pollinated the two plants here with blockhead F1 pollen and in a few more days will pollinate with phoenix f2 pollen to make f3 seeds.

I'd like to think that the "injection" of Sour Diesel genetics into (old-school,Super Silver) Haze, making SuperSilverSourDieselHaze, wasn't a "happy mistake"....
The idea was quite "new",as nobody has done it before,or since, that I know of.
DLB and OJD have selected two now-celebrated cuts of SSSDH, "The Shire" Cut and "The OJD" Cut. Both have traveled the world and OJD's has won a couple of awards,if I recall correctly-and Hazes haven't been winning much, lately,so I'd like to think of The SSSDH Project as an improvement on "hazes",silly me. :)

Cheers!

So did this fly right under the radar? Your guys' haze THAT good you are zoned out?

I respect your knowledge but nobody will ever convince me that haze has been improved on in 40 years. Aren't we all trying capture what they HAD before it got diluted and selected differently by so many?

This is not a question REZ work thread nor will it become one. :noway:

Anyone here ever scrog a haze?? i dont see enough scrogs on here!

There are A LOT of scrog threads in the "Grow Diaries" Forum. Kinda where they belong to be discussed. So that is where you will find most of the talk on the scrog method of growing.

Have you personally tried the scrog method on a Haze? How about any pure Sativa Variety? If so what were your results?

It's a good day, my 15 foot haze is going into flower! Going to get a heater to keep her nice and warm. I had to LST her over because she was just too tall to fit in my greenhouse. Will post current pictures later today or tomorrow.
