People used to joke that one day they would tax the air we breathe, guess what they are doing now with the carbon tax.
close @Frosty Nuggets
we as individuals arent taxed, but corporations are
based on their emissions they are taxed a certain amount to offset their carbon poots
but corps dont pay tax!!! they pass that cost on to the consumer

like @Dime said, where does all this carbon money go
im sure there are shell companies that do nothing but trade in carbon credits just to rake in the $$$
/its walways the sweet sweet $$$$$

/nimby! much or is it the cheap power that turns you off
@Porky82
tell me about your green energy? and what you do for the earth
Did you even read that? It's used to transport cheaper fossil fuels from Mexico!
Of course that's bad and how are environmentalists tripping over themselves to support this?
Your of the same intellect as frosty so I'm not surprised you don't understand what your posting! 🤣

of course i read that, and the sunrise power link also entails wind farms/ solar farms in the desert that generate green energy, but its too far away from urban centers to be of any use
so how do you get that energy from where its created to where its needed?
that was actually a nimby site, not in my backyard
i get it you are all for green energy; but dont pollute my view or endanger a tortoise in the desert
im not going to do your home work for you but a lot of green energy is a huge scam and ends up costing the rate payers more and more over the long haul
what are the green efforts in your area? and how are they brought to market? and who benifits

More rubbish from NOAA, no mention of water vapor being a greenhouse gas.

"Carbon dioxide is Earth’s most important greenhouse gas: a gas that absorbs and radiates heat. Unlike oxygen or nitrogen (which make up most of our atmosphere), greenhouse gases absorb heat radiating from the Earth’s surface and re-release it in all directions—including back toward Earth’s surface. Without carbon dioxide, Earth’s natural greenhouse effect would be too weak to keep the average global surface temperature above freezing. By adding more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, people are supercharging the natural greenhouse effect, causing global temperature to rise. According to observations by the NOAA Global Monitoring Lab, in 2021 carbon dioxide alone was responsible for about two-thirds of the total heating influence of all human-produced greenhouse gases.

Another reason carbon dioxide is important in the Earth system is that it dissolves into the ocean like the fizz in a can of soda. It reacts with water molecules, producing carbonic acid and lowering the ocean's pH (raising its acidity). Since the start of the Industrial Revolution, the pH of the ocean's surface waters has dropped from 8.21 to 8.10. This drop in pH is called ocean acidification."

I've posted this before, you would know that if you bothered to read articles other people post.

"This study determines if there is a correlation between rising carbon dioxide levels and global warming. Historical data were reviewed from three different time periods spanning 500 million years. It showed that the curves and trends were too dissimilar to establish a connection. Observations from CO2 /temp ratios showed that the CO2 and the temperature moved in opposite directions 42% of the time. Many ratios displayed zero or near zero values, reflecting a lack of response. As much as 87% of the ratios revealed negative or near zero values, which strongly negate a correlation. The infrared spectra showed the Greenhouse Gases had an exceptionally low absorption band between 11.67 µm to 9.1 µm, which is a zone called the infrared atmospheric window. Most of the Greenhouse Gases absorb little infrared inside that zone. And that zone is where the Earth’s surface emits almost all infrared radiation. Even with minimal absorbance, water vapor captures the most infrared radiation. It absorbs 84 times more than CO2 , 407 thousand times more than methane, 452 thousand times more than ozone and 2.3 million times more than nitrous oxide. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United States EPA excluded water vapor because it was not associated with man-made activities."
