Have you ever identified a grow house because the resident was careless?

I have. There's an obvious grow house two blocks down the street from me. The first clue, noted while I was out walking my dog, was seeing two residents unloading two 40-gallon Botanicare reservoirs and covers from their vehicle, which they'd parked in the driveway. I was mildly surprised at their lack of discretion, pulling large grow-related items out of their car in full view, in broad daylight. Then I noticed that many of the windows, which face the street, were covered with tye-die prints. These windows all have dual box fans, with no visibility into the rooms.

There's a lot of junk outside the house; old furniture, tools, odds and ends, and gardening equipment, though no visible garden. Recently I noticed an old reservoir out there, though it's since been removed.

So yeah, it doesn't take a seasoned farmhand to know that this is a grow house! These guys are really sloppy. They're also lucky that I'm harmless and would never interfere with them in any way. I'm considering sending an anonymous letter advising that they clean up their act. I like to think that, in their shoes, I'd appreciate a nudge like this, though it would also freak me out.

What would you guys do?

My neighbors had an obvious vent coming out their bedroom window. And that room never had the lights on (blacked out) I could see their meter from the sidewalk and it spun like a top. Lol, a house a couple blocks from me didn't have snow on its roof for most of the winter, and then they got busted. Lesson to learn: don't vent into attic

Send them a letter...tell them you're a fellow enthusiast and noticed they were getting VERY sloppy and obvious from the street. They're probably real stoners without much sense. Do them a favor. Include a link to here and the security forum! I'd sure like to know!

I think there is a grow house at this one busy intersection in my city.

All the windows are covered up, the yard is maintained well, there is never any activity there in the weekends or during the day. Sometimes they will be there for short periods at night. Around christmas, they have 10 or 12 of those huge blow up yard ornaments all around the house. The whole yard is covered with them, Its kind of funny.

If it is a grow house, I think they draw too much attention with the ornaments, everything else is spot on.

A couple of 20-something year old guys are running something out of their house next door. Had a bigass box delivered to them with the CAN-FAN label on the outside. They only say hi and then nothing else as far as conversation goes. Saw one of 'em bringing in a couple bags of Fox Farms yesterday. Seen both of them smoking a bubbler in their backyard the other day.

Seems like they really just dont realize they are in Texas and they will get raided for stupid shit like that. I was raided because a neighbor saw a res tank and got suspiscious. I've seen numerous things that would make me suspiscious, much less my 75yr old neighbors on the other side.

Dont be stupid, know what you are doing is right in the eyes of God/your higher being of choice but not in the eyes of your government.

I think sometimes as growers your overly suspicious anyway. I see certain things and it just triggers the thought like damn they're growing. But there are definitely sloppy growers out there. Be safe n discreet

I caught a guy growing shrooms before, never mj. He was throwing some waste out and I knew what it was, so I started talking to him and we became good friends

My advice is mind your own business and live and let be, because they will spent the rest of their time trying to figure out who sent them the note and it might lead to you and your grow. If they are that stupid then they most likely are gonna get popped anyways so stay far away, be safe, ignore.

My grow partner used to grow in a rented house, across the street from him there was a blatant grow op going down so that's why he loved his place. Took all the heat away from him. They would have bright white flouros near their front window, very low to the ground. During certain times of the night you could see wires through their curtains being lit up by the lights inside. Near their back porch they had a few green light bulbs that were always on. They would be seen coming to and from the house at random times with garbage bags.

They only lasted about 9 months before I caught em on the news, they got pulled over 2 blocks from their house down the street, car smelled like weed, cops found an ounce in their ride AND clones. I guess that was enough to run the plates on the car and search their residence which was packed with about 100 plants and 4kw in the basement.

It's like night and day how people operate their business. The people who take the time and necessary steps to ensure maximum safety get rewarded, the rest eventually get caught or succumb to their own demise in some way.

yeah shortly later that week I saw some fresh outa highschool kids hanging around, just chillin on the porch like this is compton, lookin sketchy as ever...

Well, they say "do unto others..." so it's all what you'd like I suppose. I think that in the spirit of community, you should leave a note that doesn't freak them out but makes it clear that they're exposed. I wouldn't try to make friends or anything though since they're not too bright lol...

Example: If i didn't grow, i wouldn't have a clue what a "Botanicare reservoir" is used for, so i probably wouldn't give it a second thought.

for some of the more specific things, yeah that too...

I remember driving down the freeway one time seeing a truck with multiple 4x8 tables... I instantly make the connection but anyone not involved in growing probably couldn't have done the same real quick like.

Hmm, that's a good point, and it would definitely hold if the only thing I saw were the reservoirs...but the list of "mistakes" is lengthy, and it seems to me that an intelligent non-grower might be able to put two and two together. I also know for a fact that this house has caught the attention of the neighbors, because it was mentioned at a neighborhood security watch meeting some while back--nobody mentioned marijuana specifically, but it was considered suspicious.

I dropped a letter in the mail yesterday. I'd want to know if I were attracting the wrong kind of attention, and these guys are about to find out that that's exactly what they're doing. We'll see if they at least clean up all the crap lying around outside their place. If it saves them from a burglary or home invasion (more likely to happen in Oakland than getting popped by the cops), then I did a good thing.
