Has anyone grown out Nirvana's Short Rider?

I have been interested in AF's for a long time now and this year I had started my first crop of MDZ's Bluestreak with great result. Though before I had knowledge of auto-flowers I had always wanted to try Top 44 for its quick flowering. I then discovered that this strain was discontinued, yet Nirvana had crossed it with Early Special to create Short Rider. My question is it any faster than other AF's, and if so is it worth breeding with any other strain? I ask this becuase I had always wanted to cross Top 44 with an AF like Lowryder, Masterlow , Bluestreak, ect. for an extremly fast growing strain.(maybe even under 2 months :Bolt:)

I recently heard these weren't even AF's so I'm just giving up the dream and moving on to SourBubble Ryder, besides I think top 44 is back on the market.

I'll be doing a test grow of this strain shortly.

do a quick search and you will find many a complaint about it. gypsy has removed it from seedbay because of its lack of autoflower trait. in fact here is a thread about it......

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=121374

Yes he pulled it until I get the seeds and do a test grow to see whats up with it. I did find a bunch of places selling it so I imagine we'll be seeing stuff about it around.

I emailed a few places asking questions about it but no one has replied about it.

So I take it that is suppose to be:

1) Autoflower - So i'll have it on 24/7 for at least 3 weeks then drop it to 18/6 to see what happens.

2) Femmed - One thing I asked several places was how they made the femmed seeds.

My Short Rider experience!

My Short Rider experience!

Hey guys...

I am growing Short Rider ATM..

Problem 1 - It doesn't autoflower
Problem 2 - Fem seeds turn male (3 fem seeds - 2 female - 1 male)
Problem 3 - They aint that short..

Nirvana's description says the opposite to the above problems...

I have no other complaints, infact I'v really enjoyed growing it (although it wasn't what I expected)
I thought I'd add a few pics for you all... I'm 5 weeks into flower (12/12) after 7 weeks veg (18/6)

Should give you all an idea of what to expect...

.

On your females did they show any sign of hermies ?

Have you finished a run of them yet ?

If so how long did they flower for ?

Even if it is not AF, which I'm very inclined to believe. (though waiting for S_a_H's results) I would still like to know if it would be worth breeding it until it is a stable AF. For it still seems as if it is a relatively quick finisher which may prove useful in combination with true AF strains. IMO, as I've obviously never grown the strain myself.

BTW does anyone have anything to say about its quality, not as an AF but in general? (potency, taste, smell etc.)

I have trawled the internet for hours on end trying to find (True) info on Short Riders with no joy (Journals started and not finished and PLENTY of complaints)... If it takes the Top44 traits it should be a nice potent smoke, I will post a smoke report here when mine are finished - They smell fantastic ATM though... And as you can see, it aint a bad looking plant!

They start really slow - mine was about 5 inches tall at 4 weeks - by 6 weeks it was about 2+1/2 foot (thats when I decided a little LST was in order) I measured the main stem the other night, 4+1/2 foot.. LOL...
They are also light feeders (Nute sensitive) I'm now (since last week) on full strength of the bottle recommendations (Ionic bloom) during veg I only used half strength (Ionic grow)

I hope some of the above info helps people out?! :)

It does, also I've been aware of the complaints with the strain though I've never actually seen one grown out. I'm anxious to see yours as it does look pretty nice. It's almost seems worth making it AF based on your info. I think that their could be some good traits we are not yet aware of, and with the proper breeding this could turn out be beneficial for a faster growing plant with potentially increased potency IMO. Though this is all just speculation on my part.

Its got the potential to be good yeilder too!

My full grow journal is on RIU, although there seems to be more interest in Short Riders here...

Another thing I feel I should mention is "Problem 2 - Fem seeds turn male" May well have been my own fault - I messed up on transplanting the one that turned on me - lost most of its root ball, so I may well have stressed it into turning male. (I thought this might be important info too)

That is valuable information, were their any signs that it would have been female before this happened other than that they were supposedly feminized?

Yeh, it smelled the same as the other 2.... Although I have recently learned that male plants can also smell quite nice... but I was convinced it was female until it showed me its nuts! :(
