I'm not familiar with fungus gnats, but those do look like thrip marks, and, if I am seeing it correctly, those little black spots near the marks would be thrip shit. Time for some Captain Jacks! You can get that at home depot, no trip to the hydro store required. Just spray and make sure you cover 100%, and do a couple applications a few days apart so any stragglers get got!
 
i don't see anything yet?? no moving bugs , no nothing ...i been scoping with a 60x Loupe

You can see thrips with the naked eye. If it is thrips spinosad will wipe them out with one use if ya cover every surface. If it’s fungus gnats let them dry out really good a couple of times or get some gnatrol wdg.

If u got Thrip damage u will find them. They leave squiggly marks on the leaves just like that.

Everyone I know is using Organic methods now. These are the top ones getting used for Aphids, thrips, whitefly, leafhoppers and more.. From what many are telling me. If u have root aphids nothing will kill them off 100%. You will need to use IPM to keep under control or swap out ur medium.
