GW sativex: myths or magic

clearheaded

Active member
hey guys,

hopefully Sam_Skunkman will chime in with what he can ie public knowledge..

So I see alot of myths misunderstandings about SATIVEX and 1 point in particular by a well known respected member that may get passed off as fact needs to be addressed. There is thoughts that the 2 plants that make up sativex are GMO as contain ~75%+ THC and the other ~75%+ CBD. but this is not the % of mass of thc in the plant but rather the % of thc in the extract or % of the total cannabinoids (maybe wi terps and some lipids). As i am sure sam will attest to even GW plants obey nature and do not produce above 35% total cannabinoids in teh bud. So i guess just clearing up that 75% of total cannabinoids is thc and not a plant with 75% thc by mass.. anyway, so just wanted to clear that up and despite trying to explain what is meant by the 75% thc they just would not concede. which brings up other myths.

that sativex isnt whole plant extract, ie does not contain minor cannabinoids. (despite if u dig clearly states there are some but obv doesnt want to garuentee analysis but not taken out(minor binoids) by any methods) ie simple Co2 extraction in a oil solvent. but people seem to think its some isolates or something i am not sure. but the whole point of sativex was whole plant vs the marinol that was available. and helped lead teh way for cannabis to get a DIN (drug id).

The thinking is that is because it is not natural full plant extract is why it lists so many side effects... but of course it is full plant extract and all drugs have side effects and need to be listed for legality.

another point is "sterile plants" some people think its sexually sterile (which is possible but doubt would go through the effort) rather kept in sterile enviro as with all meds.. this is one i am not 100% on but likely just another misunderstanding about what is actually happening. and this is used as another point that they are growing some kind of uber cannabis that glows. I think its prob just a jack herer offshoot or maybe a ghani nl more or less...

anyway, again dont want to call anyone out but i think its important folks get knowledge vs half truths that are misunderstood and spewed as facts. and he wont accept anything other than sams word..lol

choose 1 from 1 & 2 answers and 1 from #2 and 3.... just to get idea of what people actually think..

EDIT sorry teh poll wouldnt work

Not sure about all the science behind it, but I can tell you it works for very sick people. My step-father was diagnosed with throat cancer in his sixties (50 years of cigarettes and alcohol will do that) and just continued to get worse. After the last round of Chemo he was desperate for anything and asked if I could get him some weed. He didn't like smoking it, and the effects from eating were too variable for him so we looked at Sativex, which is available here, though at a steep price. We ended up saving up and getting a months supply ($1200 NZD) and after a few days of use he said it was the first time since the diagnosis that he felt ok with everything. He passed a few months later, but it always made us feel better that in the last couple months of his life he felt a sense of contentment with his situation.
