Guestion about FERTILIZING !!!

Im using a bottle type liquid fertilizer with the N : P : K of 27 : 15 : 12 + Microelements, from the label on it, I read that you have to mix 1 G of it to 1 L of water... Done...

So the bigger guestion which I stumbled upon today...

IS IT OK TO GIVE THEM THAT EVERY TIME THE SOIL BECOMES DRY AGAIN???

I always thought that overfeeding is due to lack of correct dosage of fertilizer, meaning that when someone puts 3g into the 1 L of water instead of like 1G like it is supposed to be done...

TS,
No, do not feed them every day. But first...what sort of grow? What medium and are they in veg phase?

Manufacturers directions usually are too high. Best to feed by watching the plant. If this is a soil grow...a good schedule is full strength followed by 1/2 strength and next give just water. And repeat. You know to wait till soil drys a bit before watering?

And that ratio looks hinky. Lots of N...a common NPK used in ganja is 20-20-20 for vegging. What does it say on the bottle? What's this stuff for?

This is my grow:

:D

I got the best fertilizer I could ever find here where I live... usually they are like 8 : 6 : 3 or such little numbers, Ive heard it is best to give the plants alot of nitrogen at the beginning, which they need or such... and when in flower...to apply more potassium and things like that ... :p

I forgot to say... I water every time the soil dries out, not every day like I wrote :p, gotta correct that...

O, and the fertilizer is for ROSES :p

On the package sticker, it says...

Use during every watering from april till oktober...
Overfertilization and damage to the plants does NOT OCCUR.

On intended use... during the vegetative period of the plants growth..., ensures that plants have an intensive color, prolongs the flowering period and increases the number of FLOWERS... (Buds)

O, btw...
Nice signature... I believe those things all the time, lol, but nobody believes me until they see the facts themselves xD
Also your post is the 666th post here in my thread xD

Hi Sorcerer,
Checked out your grow. They look healthy. I've heard that's a wicked strain.

On the nutrient you're using. I'm not going to tell you to go buy new nutes. And it's true that the plants need more N during veg then they do while flowering. But during veg, the P and K have value too. I know some very experienced growers...more experienced then I am...who use a 10-30-20 nutrient during all phases of growth. That's the ratio of Peter's Professional bloom nutrient. And they find that the plants get plenty of N just using that. You need to consider the ratios of all three main nutrients and I think the rose food you're using is a little shy on P which is important for stem growth. And it's the ratios which I keep stressing and not the actual value of the numbers that's important.

If you want to feed with every watering...I definitely wouldn't go full strength. Perhaps 1/2 to 3/4 strength according to the bottles instructions and up that if you see yellowing. Learn to go by how the plant looks. The label advice is probably for Rose bushes in the ground. Not young marijuana plants in pots. Remember that the soil has nutrients too.

I'd consider adding some epsom salts to your feeding water too. Perhaps 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per gallon as a routine. Marijuana is a heavy Magnesium user and your strain included genetics (White Widow) which tend to use even more Mg. Mg deficiency looks like the leaves are becoming striped...yellowing between the veins of the leaves. It's much easier to prevent it then to fix it once it occurs.

My signature is from a very inspired guy (now dead) named Terence McKenna. Check out some of his writing if you want to read some odd things!

The-sorcoerer. the numbers in the feeding seem fine. you can feed every time but, like Evil twin sugests, feed about 1/3 less than package recomends. Or feed full strengh every other week or so. I would recomend always going lighter with the feedings and work your way up. It's better than over feeding and having to flush. (If you do over feed. Flush out with 3 times more water than soil you are using. with a 1/4 strenght feeding every other day for a week.) also like Evil twin stated adding Epsom salt is a really good idea. you can even foliar feed epsom salt with 1/4 strengh nuts. for a quicker response. When you figure out your method of feeding and your ready i can show you how to make a really cheap and easy method of feeding your soil. using AACT (Airated Activated Compost Tea) after all you are feeding your soil and the soil is feeding the plants. Happy growing.

How will I know if I have overfed my plants? Curling leaf tips, + yellow tips?
I dont remember... and if I looked in the plant comprehensive problem solver here, I still got no idea xD

Thanks.

Sorcerer,
On overfeeding, first off you'll see that the leaves will get a little burning starting at the tips and the edges. slight browning usually. And if you're bumping up the nutrient dose slowly...you'll have very dark leaves. With that nute mix...that's what I'd expect first. Actually it would be N toxicity...extremely dark green leaves. I'd get them nice and green (really about like they are now) and just maintain there. Extreme overfeeding gives actual dead leaf tips. Hopefully you won't see that.

I don't know why you're not getting runoff. but if the soil is drying up in a day...well then water more. With good draining soil and adequate watering and the right pot size...I'd say you'd need to water every 3 or 4 days. But you have to go by your situation. If the soil is dry...water. With high heat, low humidity and lots of moving air...then they'll dry out faster.

no need to add anything on that one Eviltwin seems to have you on the right tract. lol. i kind've like the bluish dark green colors of over feeding N. It would be a nice color for a truck. I'de call it "Excessive Nitrogen" in a flat paint of course.

With brown and orange pin striping of course.

Wild speculations about the origin of speech, the role of the UFO in society and Shamanistic magic. Fun stuff to be sure...
