Guerilla growing on foot

It takes multiple trips, get a world war II German folding shovel (made in China). It's the best trench shovel and will hold up for decades. Even has a pick on on side.

Tents kinda suck too. I enjoyed a cammo covered diamond hammock. Biking in and back takes time and sometimes staying the night near by is advised. Just sucks when a summer storm rolls in and there is lightening and large tree's coming down.

This type of growing sucks the worst.

Thanks for thw tip. Luckily we dont have extreme weather here in the north of ireland, just a lot of rain and not much sunlight, so at least i have it easier than a lot of other growers in other countries.

I am thinking of getting a mixed pack of 10 auto fems either from buddha seeds or sweet seeds, or maybe something from hybrids from hell.

I was thinking that if i use autos, i wouldnt have to dig as much because they have a small root system, so i wouldnt have to carry as much soil.

Also, i live on the outskirts of a city and i will be walking at least 2 or 3 miles to get across the border so i cant carry anything too obvious looking. I will probably have to fit everything in a backpack.

I would get something from HFH + some autos. It's not a bad idea to hedge your bets/have a staggered harvest. You're right, autos won't need as big a hole, but you will need more of them to get the same weight of harvest that you would get with photos.

I wouldn't bother carrying soil. Just take some dried amendments, and dig them in. As others have suggested, a folding tool of some sort is a good idea.

You'll also have to consider pests - slugs, bunnies, and deer could easily take all your plants. Especially if you're germing on site, the first few weeks will be make or break. At the very least you'll need slug pellets and/or copper collars for your plants to protect against slugs. If you have bunnies or deer in the area, you may need something like chicken wire cages.

Perhaps get a cab one day to drop off the heavy supplies, hide them near by, come back in a couple of days to carry them the last bit.

I'd also try to find at least two suitable sites. Having all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea.

I went on a spotting mission yesterday, walked about 4 miles out of the city and up the mountains just over the border. I found a good spot on a south-east facing slope on the edge of a huge pine forest.
The area is covered in gorse and heather. The soil is like peat type stuff.
Ive decided to go with something from hybrids from hell. Ill prepare the ground some time in the next week and order the seeds when i get paid next week.

PS: I found another spot which is probably not suitable as there was evidence of human activity all around, but there was some nice looking leaf mold compost everywhere.
Would this be a good additive for acidic soil?
I could go up there tomorrow and fill a shopping bag or two with it and bring it to my grow spot.

Add dolomite lime for acidic peat soil. If your just ordering seeds it's going to be a pretty late start for you so don't expect monsters.
Cheers GG

If the soil is pure peat then adding more organic matter would be pointless IMO. I would buy some garden lime/calcium carbonate (make sure its not dolomitic lime or hydrated) to counteract the acidity and provide magnesium. Also some BFB or poultry manure pellets, and rock dust and/or seaweed meal to provide micro nutes and get the microbes going. For flower either high P bat guano (ebay) or comfrey pellets.

Peat is likely to stay a bit too wet for cannabis, so I would personally build up some mounds to at least 6 inches high, which will help get the roots near the surface get some oxygen. It also means you won't have to dig so deep - 1 ft should do as long as you pile up the peat over 8 inches. Just scrape the the top layer of soil surrounding the holes you've dug.

Good luck!

The leaf mold compost was in a deciduous forest, which i understand has alkaline soil, so i was thinking of using it to balance the ph of the acidic soil in my area. Do you think it would do the job? I dont want to have to buy lime if i can just get some free compost down the road that will do the same job and possibly contain more minerals and be easier to carry.

The trouble is that besides PH, a medium composed of nearly all organic matter is going to be lacking in minerals, and I suspect magnesium would be lacking especially. Without the right balance of magnesium and other minerals your plants won't grow very well, and they definitely will not yield anywhere near their potential.

Lime is pretty much essential if you want a successful grow, especially in an acidic medium. It's also cheap, and you won't need much, just a couple of handfuls per hole should be plenty.

You're going to need at least some of the other amendments I mentioned also, or you're not going to have a very good harvest. I can understand you not wanting to spend if money is tight, but there are only a few cheap things you'll have to buy. Some of the others can be sourced for free. A trip to the coast should get you some seaweed for example. I'd also try to find things like nettles and wild comfrey which can be make into teas or dug in as amendments.
