Guawi Harvest - Day 81 of 12/12

Guawi Harvest - Day 81 of 12/12

So...hi, all. My Guawi came down today...I almost needed tree-climbing equipment as it was taller than me. Probably about 5'9 or 5'10" - the tallest plant I ever grew -and about three feet (or so) of solid kola. Why I persist in growing sativas in the "classic" mode with my height restriction, I don't know - aesthetics will out, I guess.

She smells of citrus and menthol. I could have taken her longer but I am dealing with a very serious health emergency in my immediate family and my time is no longer my own. (Why I have minimal presence on the boards these days). Besides, she looks pretty far done -the glands were predominantly milky (deep milky) and the buds look much more finished than they look in the photos.

The buds are huge and appear much more dense than the first time I grew her. I did flower her under a light regime that ended up 11/13 after a few weeks in. Oh yeah...she was grown from seed (I forget whether Fem or not) and in a three gallon coco Smart Pot.

And...just sampled her and she's an amazing electric, lo-o-n-g lasting stone. Up. Non-anxiety. And trippy.

Hope you enjoy.

Good one mayan ;)

I'm happy to see Guawi still around, it was a limited edition from 2009 if i remember well!

I'm curious to know your opinion about your Guawi vs Tikal. I find Guawi stronger (thanks to the malawi influence) with a more complex aroma, but i prefer Tikal for more social effects or for situations that need a more clear mind and and a more energetic attitude.

Thanks a lot for your updates! :)

Haha, okay.
Now I have one packet of Guawi. Dated 2012
Saw it in Axxxx seedbank and became curious. So I had to have this.
At the moment I'm wondering wheather it's better to grow in summer or now.
Now! Can't wait ;)
I'll probably grow some White Bhutanese with this one...tall they are.

Hi Genghis Kush,

Last Guawi standard seeds were produced at least 5 seasons ago ... she is out of stock since a few years ago, i would recommend you to check other more recent releases to avoid any germination problem.

Guawi 2017 feminized - limited edition

Guawi 2017 feminized - limited edition

THE NEW GUAWI IS BACK!

http://www.aceseeds.org/en/strains/guawifem.html

By pollinating the Old Malawi Killer with a refined F5 fruity and incensey Tikal, we have recreated Guawi: a pure sativa F1 hybrid of great vigor, yield and very high potency, that combines great african and american sativa genetics.

This updated Guawi version improves all previous versions we have made up to date of this limited edition, which has only been available for short periods of time in the last decade.

Tikal (with 75 % Guatemala sativa genetics) complements Malawi with a stronger, more compact structure, bulkier flowers and a shorter flowering time, improving also the terpene profile of the original Old Malawi Killer.

We recommend Guawi to all growers looking for sativas of great vigor, high production, complex terpene profiles, and overpowering and long lasting psychedelic effects.

THC concentrations are always high or very high: between 17-23%.

Feminized limited edition available while stock lasts.

AVAILABLE IN FEMINIZED FORMAT
F1 HYBRID
85 % SATIVA / 15 % INDICA
FLOWERING INDOORS: 11-12 WEEKS
FLOWERING OUTDOORS: 3rd WEEK OF OCTOBER / EARLY NOVEMBER
YIELD / M2: HIGH
RESISTANCE AGAINST SPIDER MITES: AVERAGE-HIGH
RESISTANCE AGAINST MILDEW: AVERAGE
RESISTANCE AGAINST BOTRYTIS: AVERAGE-HIGH
RESISTANCE AGAINST WHITE FLY: AVERAGE-HIGH
RESISTANCE AGAINST COLD: AVERAGE-HIGH
RESISTANCE AGAINST HEAT: HIGH
LATITUDE: 0º-43º
THC: 17-23 %

GENETICS: Old Malawi Killer x Tikal F5 (mango incensey pheno).

STRUCTURE: Sativa of medium-large size, strong and with excellent branching.

BOUQUET: Complex, spicy, woody aroma, balanced with mango and incense aromas from our Tikal. Deep resinous and oily background.

HIGH: Overpowering sativa effect, very complex. Strongly psychedelic at the beginning, with a long lasting smiling, hilarious and relaxing development.

GROWING TIPS

It can be grown indoors without any problem, where enough space and medium/high or high light intensity is recommended to achieve the best results.

Guawi is a sativa hybrid of great vigor, so bear in mind that it doubles its size when it is flowered from seed, and it stretches approximately 50% when is flowered from clones.

Excellent sativa for warm climates with warm or soft start of autumn.

Outdoors and with long growing stages, the yield potential of this sativa hybrid is very high, developing a fir tree structure, with a large main cola and many strong branches.

Guawi has always been one of the most interesting of the Malawi crosses to me so it's nice to see I will finally have a chance to pick her up. I do not like muddy, dense effects, so my hope is the Tikal adds a lot more clarity, expansiveness and kindness to the cross.

Well I just read all 18 pages. I kind of hope one of my seeds doesn't pop so I can add another Guawi to this rotation. Peace

Ordered one fem seed
Hoping for the power of the Malawi (it's my first Malawi) and the kindness of the Tikal
And hopefully no powdery mildew
Is it more likely for Malawi to develop powdery mildew in northern climates?
Im planning on growing it in a pot at a sheltered location, no rain from above but can still be pretty humid in October, start of November…

And how do you think it will handle cold temperatures? The Malawi is pretty resistant against cold and still producing? Tikal not as much?
I grew 3 Tikals two seasons ago and they really seemed to slow down as the temperatures got lower and lower, all 3 looked very tropical and hazy

One more question :)
The ace description says the mango incensey Tikal was used? Is it very similar to the peachy incensey pheno considering the effect?
Thank you, I hope everyone's enjoying the sun today, people and plants :)

Hi 48N,

Yes, the new Guawi fem version is Old Killer Malawi (P1) x highly worked and fast/moderate flowering, peach mango incensey Tikal (F5) pheno. The Tikal you grew 3 years ago was most probably a less tamed Tikal version with longer flowering times.

To be honest, both Malawi and Tikal (and therefore Guawi) are not the most resistant strains we have against powdery mildew (although Komanche did a lot of improvement in this regard with his Tikal from F3 generation onwards, eliminating from the breeding all the Tikals prone to PM).

Malawi and Tikal also perform better in the second half of flowering with warm temps and high light intensity.... lower temps and strong temperature variations will affect negatively their final yield and quality, although many growers have had excellent results growing Malawi, Tikal and Guawi in more northern and colder latitudes like yours, guess it will depend on the climate this season and the concrete pheno you find in your Guawi seeds.

Hope it helps with your doubts. Best wishes for the season! :)

My Guawi

My Guawi

I have two plants in this 45 gallon grow bag. One was planted later than the first one shown here. I have three packs of these seeds. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want three more. Ok I admit it. I just like buying seeds. Peace :tiphat:

Thanks dubi, I'm at work right now. I will post up a new picture of my Guawi's when I have a chance. One is certainly more dominant than the other. The younger plant is strong and fighting for light. The older plant is very bushy and vigorous. I really like this strain. Thanks again Ace! Peace
