The GrowLab 80 Is 2'7" x 2'7" x 5'11"

I've heard many mixed reviews and reasoning on what should or could be done with this particular tent.

Goals: To maintain being private, efficient and productive.
- Keep heat within decent levels
- Keep noise preferably silent if not, close to it.
- Keep odor free
- Keep Private & Safe

I've been debating about wether to get a 600w or 400w HPS Digital Lumatek Ballast. The GrowLab 80 is
2'7" x 2'7" x 5'11", I plan to grow in soil. I need to maintain keeping the heat in the cab within decent levels without an AC, basicaly rely on the fan to recirculate the air outside of the tent and into the same room. I'd like everyone's advice and expertice on this.

i have a DR80 by secret jardin, its measurements are almost the same like the growlab 80 except the height on mines is 5.3ft. I choose to go with the 4" carbon filter + 4 " fan. I think this combo is best suited for the secret jardin DR80 and the growlab 80.

I'd like to do a 600w hps lumatek with a 6in fan but I've heard the fan can be extremely loud and I also don't want heat issues. I think a 400w hps lumatek with 4in fan might be a better option considering the circumstances currently if the fan isn't that loud or can be silenced considerably. What do you think about going with the Hydrofarm Daystar Ac Reflector? And An ArgoSun Gold HPS light for the lumatek ballast?

when i was in the market for the dr80 i ask the same question. i was getting a lot of response about going with the 4" carbon filter + fan. I wanted to go with the 600w also but a lot of people was telling me that i might have issue with heat so i decided to go with the 400w instead and im loving it. If u want to add more watt just add a few cfl in there like i did. I added 4 cfl bulbs along with my 400w during flower. I got all my lighting supply at htg supply. check them out there one of the cheapest place i found online for my growing equipments.

if you cool ur lights properly i think you could get away with a 600 bro...with good air circulation that is.i have a homebox xl i play around in and i run 1200 watts in it.2 x 600,its only 4 x 4 and like 6 and a half feet tall.my temps are always under 82 degreed and the humidity is like 35-45 %...i use a way bigger filter and fan then was suggested.you can never be too cautious about smells/security brotha...heres a pic so you can see how mine is set up.

i was using the smaller filter, then i put the bigger one on there yo...

I'd say go with a 400w CMH and a 4" vortex. I got pretty much the same cab, and so far the results aren't too bad.

That's a great lookin setup Tonatiuh. I've been thinking about the 600w lumatek but like you said it would need good air circulation. I was wanting to go with 600 but if I can't have good temperature without loud noise from a powerful fan then I might be best off going with the 400w and 4in vortex like Seismic mentioned. I'm curious Seismic, what reflector would you recommend? Hydrofarm Cooltube? I was hearing that although the cool tube is good at maintaining heat it doesn't reflect light that well. But I suppose if I got the 400w and supplements with some cfls then I could make up for the loss with the cool tube reflector right?

I have a Sun System cooltube, and it has nice light coverage for my tents dimensions. But if you want something with a more uniform light coverage, you can look into the supersun 2 reflector, they are supposed to be rated pretty high in both cooling as well as reflectivity.

I've started reading alot more into CMH that you suggested. a 400w CMH sounds good for this model. I'm curious what cmh setup would you suggest? I was thinking of going with a lumatek hps setup but I figure the CMH might be a better option for heat and balanced spectrum.

I'd go with the CMH, you can swap a hps in there for flowering and the mixed spectrum will help keep the plants short in veg.

That's my current setup, gl80 + 400w cmh + 4" vortex. I can't comment further on it as I haven't had a full harvest in it yet.

I'm thinking of going with:

-Lumatek 400w
-AgroSun Gold 400w HPS Light Bulb
-Hydrofarm Cool Tube
-4in Vortex Fan

from mdhydro cause I've heard they give good deals. all this would come out to around $400. What do yall think? I hope the 4in vortex fan is enough to maintain the heat without too much noise.

if you use a air cooled hood then it should be fine. i have a dr80 with a 400 watt CMH and air cooled hood with a 270CFM canfan. i have the fan it running at like 60% and the temps are fine. its a 6" hood and fan and filter. i had to cut the tent a lil bit for it to fit.

also go to where it says "My IC" to change your avi. top left

thanks, good lookin out man, it's appreciated. I've considered using the 4in vortex fan but I've heard the 6in would be ideal considering it's way more cfm but I'd need a way to figure out how to damn near completely silience it. I've heardt there's duct mufflers but to pay an extra $70 for something thats gonna barely even make a difference I'm not sure if that'd be my best option.

6" fan with a dimmer, itll run nice and quiet then.

A dimmer? Would this be it?.. Solid State Speed Control 300 Watt? The 6in vortex fans at mdhydro.com come with an option to pay an extra $30 for that I believe.

Btw how loud would you rate the 6in vortex fan with a dimmer? does it sound as loud as a regular cheap fan from walmart? lol

If you're wanting to go with CMH maybe later on, it won't work with that ballast. You'll need a magnetic 400w HPS ballast.

Definitely get a air cooled reflector because my open reflector with the CMH makes the canopy at 90 degrees!! Just 1 and 1/2 feet away from canopy.

Not sure how you would accommodate a 6 inch vortex as the socks that facilitate venting and intake are only 4 inches.
