Growing Sativas: Two Malawi hybrids from Ace Seeds in small pots

Change of plans

My original plan was to flower these 2 ladies in one gallon pots thru the stretch, and then transplant into five gallon pots to finish in.

They were in one gallon thru 19 days of 11/13 lighting. Due to big humidity variations in my 2 x 4 tent, I decided to transplant them into my 4 x 4 bed in my 4 x 4 tent. I have much better environmental controls in this tent.

The following pictures were taken this morning at 20 days of 11/13 lighting.

Golden Tiger is looking happy.

Purple Haze x Malawi is looking better than she was.

This will be my third run in my 4 x 4 grassroots bed. It appears my living organic soil is starting to mature. Transplanting these revealed a healthy population of worms and various smaller other critters. I planted a new cover crop seeds from no-till solutions.




I am hoping to see them finish the stretch and and complete their flowering with no additional feeding. Just water and a weekly microbe tea.

The girls are settling in and getting back into the stretch. I believe the loss of color in the lower leaves was failing to supply adequate nutrients the last couple weeks in the one gallon pots. I was too afraid of over-feeding, that I did the opposite. I have not done these ladies justice and I hope they will bounce back.

The girls appear to have sucked all the nutrients out of the lower leaves.

On a happier noter, my cover crop is coming in nicely.

I was out of town for a few days and returned home yesterday and the girls have been stretching quite a bit.

I tried to put an LST clip on my PHxM and ended up super cropping her. She sure has the lighter color and narrow leaves of a sativa. I am worried about her continuing to stretch. I only have 12" of growth remaining. Maybe 18" if I take my carbon filter out. I think it's time to add my second trellis net.

Since my last post I added a second trellis net and I super-cropped my Purple Haze x Malawi.


Here is my Golden Tiger lady.

And here is my Purple Haze x Malawi or PuMa, as @Cheech87 calls this cross. I rather like PuMa.

I desperately need advise on pruning this gal. After super-cropping her 4 main tops, she has so many tiny tops I don't know which to keep and which to cut.

I figured out my confusion. It was @Cheyos720 that referred to Purple Haze x Malawi as Puma. I must of been stoned...
