id use a HPS if possible, with multispectra (eg Sylvania growlux) all depending on your space, set up and economics. since you omit any details on your set up my answer cant go beyond this.

I've never grown a Lowryder before, and I've got one lowryder cross going right now, and it's been vegging for two months. It's going to flower under veg right? I'm getting impatient, as thats valuble real estate it's taking up.

Cheers,
SH

suburbanhomeboy, switch to 12/12. All seeds from Lowryder crosses do not autoflower, I think it is recessive trait.

space is about a metre squared, i think i might aswell just buy an envirolight son-t or some duel spectrum lamp, they dont send out much blue spectrum but i guess that doesnt matter considering it hasnt got a veg stage... cant hurt to give it more rays.

also, i've become aware of quite alot of tiny flies that have recently inhabbited my basil and chilli pepper plants... i've no idea what they are and pesticide doesnt appear to be working, im afraid they might get into my growing cupboard and ruin my life.... any ideas what they are? :yoinks:

yes sir, go for envirolite, 200W, self ballasted it is as well.
a square meter is far too little for HPS and an envirolite 200W will spare you some ventilation problems which would arise from the heat emitted by the HPS variant. i used a 90m3 fan for a closet with a 200W and had very good conditions.
there's beeen some discussion on what spectrum to choose if you have to go with one through the grow, many suggested blue/white, but im no specialist so i wont offer any real advice, just check out what people say and just go for something, the lack of correct spectrum wont really hurt the plant, it can still grow without any problems, but the results wont be OPTIMAL. for private use it will be totally okay tho, so dont hesitiate, i had my first ever grow under a 200 envirolite and i got goooood stuff!

i suspect the "tiny flies" would be Drosophila melanogaster, about 2-3mm long, a very common "fruit fly" known mainly not among closet warlocks but scientists studying genetics (Drosophila M offers alot to make it a model species for studies, easy to keep alive, plentiful and speedy reproduction and most of all very good chromosomes for studies).

the way i deal with them? pesticides? i tried that, it almost killed a nice power plant from DP, ill never do it again! and that was even tho it said on label it WOULDNT HURT! i suggest you only use pesticides which are acceptable on food products. however, the best way imo is just to clean out the grow room well, wash floors and walls and take the plants out while you do it! if this doesnt worrk try to spray the walls and floor with pesticide, be careful with your plants tho, you'll curse yourself to eternity for feckin up plants...

I had a pretty successful lowrider plant and have 2 in flower now. I treated them the same way as any other. Vegged them till I felt they were ready, then put them into flower on 12/12.
The ones I have growing now are doing quite well. This one is only about 10 inches tall.

hello...lowrider is an autoflower strain....they will flower without going 12/12 and you'll get bigger yields by keeping your light on 24/7

Yeah. Gonna have to say, since LR is a AF strain, there should be no need to veg. and to my knowledge, PURE LowRyder can only veg in colder temperatures.
