That's true, it only covers your stuff, but I still think it's a must.

renters insurance only covers the belongings of the renter like TV playstation ect....does nothing for the owner of the home

If your grow floods the floor, you burn down his house or say police break windows and doors during a raid or you just create damage to the property

renters insurance will not cover that

Ya. Id definitely get renters insurance to protect my own stuff but as its been said it doesn't do much for the property owner (aside from peace of mind knowing they're less likely to get taken to court in the case of extreme damage to the tenants property as a result of negligence on their end).

@Zinkslnk - thanks that's the type if story i wanted to hear.

I would like to hear from someone who is confident that the same result would occur if the operation was still up when the cops arrived. Also, as it applies to amendment 64 (sound like that was a medical grower, which might be different than the average Joe operating within the confines of amendment 64).

In CA I had cops investigate a grow fire in my apartment. Long story short, they complimented some plants I had and went on their way. I was fully legal in CA and the fire wasn't my fault.

A landlaord has no right to open kitchen drawers, bedroom or hall closet doors or look in cabinets.....

they can basically do a walk through to check on the overall condition....thats all

If you have a grow in a closet... they cant (legally) open the door to look...a tent in a closet is how I grew for years in my Apt

If the landlord has reason to believe you are growing marijuana, especially illegally/in a non-med state, he can look in any drawer/cabinet/closet he pleases. After all, it's HIS house.

In CO most leases are gonna spell out your rights to grow/not grow upfront because every property owner now has the right, under law, to make the call on whether or not they want marijuana (any marijuana) on their property. If they say NO and you grow anyway and they find out, all of your rights as a tenant are moot and you can be tossed in 3 days...no refund of security deposit/last months rent/etc...and no legal resourse because YOU broke the lease.

A ballast burning out while Im not home is the scariest thing for me being a grower/renter.

What Ive noticed about growers who rent, in a non-med state, is that it all came down to necessity/survival. The reward was worth the risk. Either go hungry and homeless or go out growing...at least trying to do something independent, seeing as the dependance on another person/employer got them here in the first place.
They had to start growing to save themselves and family from becoming homeless after loosing their jobs.
I commend and salute all the growers large and small who arent gonna go down without a fight. They dont sit on their behinds waiting for handouts or letting the bills stack up.
They do whatever it takes to survive in this crumbling america. If they suffer injustice through government oppression of the poor and miserable, they are martyrs. Not criminals. Thank You to all who have taken risks to improve america for the better.

HAVE A GOOD ONE

Growing in rentals is tricky, an absentee owner or lazy property manager is helpful. Here they need to give a 48 hour notice prior to entry, but can enter at any time in case of an "emergency", so RE-KEY the locks!

Recently, I had an inspection in a rental that had 80+ plants. I've got a large truck with a tall camper-type shell on the back. Did the middle of the night move and had evertying clean as a whistle the next day. What a pain in the ass! It was touch and go, but I survived and so did the plants.

sounds like what I just did... only I had to trim a 4x8 tent that was done and move the other 4x8 and veg in 24 hours, lol...

im done now... setup always take waaay longer than tear down hey, ? lol...

talk about a busy week but like u said me and my plants are ok.

@Shliite... The same friend also had another incident where the cops came in the middle of his cycle. They had a complaint from the neighbor who was a highway patrol officer... Guess my buddy didn't size his scrubber right. Or that two car garage just wasn't sealed...

Long story short the cops photographed the grow and left. He never heard from them again, ...but to be on the safe side moved a month or so after.

Folks really just need to check those leases. If it says "no weed"...they mean it and you can be a punk all you want and bitch and moan it's someone else's fault all you want....and nobody is gonna give a fuck. The LAW (64) covers the rights of the Landlord. Period. The only way you can get around it or have ANY leg to stand on as a mere renter is if you are a medical patient because the LAWS are different and the same right is not >automatically< given to the Landlord in a medical situation. That isn't to say you still wouldn't get booted for lying to their face, but you MIGHT have a leg to stand on in court IF you have the $$$ to take it that far and fight it. Not sure WHY anyone would...but you can fight it if you want.
