For you lucky readers of this thread, I'll post this just once.

If your kitchen has corners, look very carefully at them. Often, there's a dead space sitting right there...You may need to do a bit of minor remodeling to get to it because there's usually no access...but it's the perfect size for a cab.

Undetected apartment growing isn't easy, or at least not as easy as it is in a house... you just have to get a little more creative with things and think about that shared wall. Noise is always an issue, not to mention getting some large equipment in and out (such as E/F tables if you choose to go that route).

Grow tents are very useful for small apartment grows, I highly recommend them.

Inline duct mufflers really do help, use 'em.

1200w was as big as I ever got to grow in a tiny studio apartment. Knowing what I know now, I'm confident I can turn that studio into a stealth 4000w grow without too much trouble. But back then even 1200w had me racking my brains at times. (Well, stealth as long as no inspections happened... :D)

I'd check ur lease, in my apartment i made sure to check that. Not because i grow but i have lots of nice exspensive bongs and things that i do not want them to see. So when i signed the lease i asked if they could just come into my apartment at anytime or what, and they can only come in with you not being there if you say its alright, if not you have to set a day you'll be home and they can come in, But thats just my lease your place could be different

Growing in an apartment is very risky. I wouldn't recomend anyone to use an apt. to produce herb. Too many folks living way too close. Pot smells and its difficult to constantly contain it if the plants reek bad in flower. Have any luck at gambling?

IMo smell is not a valid reason to not grow in an apt. Smell si contained by a carbon scrubber. Learn how to build a cab if your smell is escaping.

Well iv been thinking about how the hell the get all the equipment up there. Living at the top of a high rise sux. Thought about taking one thing at a time in a black trash bag. Wanna do a small set up maybe 3-4 plants and flower them at 3-4 inches in a cab. Im really only looking to get a couple oz. dont want to be greedy. Now many people have said different things but is a carbon filter the most effective in or outside the growing environment?

A carbon filter would be best placed inside your grow cab/closet/whatever, air exhausting out. That way you can ensure that all the air is getting filtered and exhausted.

Beautifully, even if your cabinet/closet/whatever does have a couple of cracks or seams where air could pass though, air is coming into the cab and out only though the fan. This insures that all air, regardless of it's origination, is dank-free. The only connection you have to worry about (talking smell wise) is the one from the filter to the exhaust fan, make sure it's seamless.

And, probably more importantly, it would not be ideal to have a carbon filter just hanging out when you've gone to the lengths you'll want to go to make the area as discreet as possible. This way everything packed away in one place, and you don't have to get clever disguising a carbon filter.

P.S. I just started growing in my apartment. Whenever I need to bring something grow-related inside I just put it in a regular box and walk it up. Trash bags, in my opinion, could arouse some suspicion. Everyone's got stuff in boxes they need to bring in every now and then, but I rarely see anyone taking bags full of "trash" into their apartment, nah' meen? But yeah, you got it. Taking it up over time is probably better than all at once.

Anyway, good luck bro. It's all about making sure no one would ever even think to look. Don't give 'em anything to suspect you.

Peace:joint:

Taking filled trahbags in your appartment seems a bit strange to me.
Why not get all your smaller stuff, put it in the bottom of some carbYoard boxes and top it off with groceries. No one will take a second look, you just went shopping for the next month.
Carry up some indoor plants and pots and then carry up your soil. People will asume its just to fill the pots.
You get the point, be creative.

edit: lol, didn't read the post above

A friend grows DWC hydro in an apartment. Decided last summer to move to another place in the same complex, so moving involved taking everything across a courtyard. I went to a local moving company and bought a used wardrobe box for $5. Emptied water from buckets, two plants at a time, put them in the wardrobe and walked the box in broad daylight across the courtyard to their new closet. For all intents and purposes, it appeared we were moving a lot of clothing when in fact we moved six 4 foot plants. Smaller plants and equipment was all boxed and carried across in similar fashion.
There have been two scares, one at the old place, and one at the new, both involving water. First the upstairs neighbor's bathtub overflowed and leaked into the walk in closet/grow room in my friend's place. Fortunately, no major damage and no need for the landlord. Last week in the new place, a bathtub spigot would not turn off. Landlord, handyman and a friend all were there within an hour and got it shut off. Again, fortunate, but no reason for anyone to enter the second (locked) bedroom that housed the grow.
There are some unique issues with apartment grows, but not insurmountable with precautions and careful attention to details.

Just mske sure that you have an emergency shut down plan ready.
Been through the somones gonne be here at 8 am tomorrow to fix this and this and ain't got nowhere to move or hide you equpment. Just be save and stealty.

I'd check out Homebox - Homebox Small sounds perfect for you. Use a 250 or 400w HPS, 4 inch centrifugal fan, CanFilter #2600. You can tuck the homebox into a closet or other small space.

Buy a small HEPA filter & run it nearby to hide the noise of the centrifugal fan inside the homebox. If someone has to come in, turn off the HPS, turn the centrifugal fan down low (get a speed controller for it), and zip everything up, throw some clothes & shit on and around the homebox, and whoever has to come in probably won't even look twice at it. In 3 1/2 or 4 months you shut it down and have enough herb for a year.

Another regular occurrence in apartments is flooding. It could happen next door or above you, or in your own apt. Your apartment will be turned upside down basically as the carpet will be removed and thrown away. The whole process will be done to protect the structure from water damage, and it won't matter if you're home or not.

This is why I ALWAYS tell people if you plan on growing in an apartment please go for the VERY top floor. Then you don't really have to worry about leaks also if the leak was next to you I don't understand why they would come in and rip up all your shit? If they think they have to rip up your shit to help protect from damage than they would have to rip up everyone's, and they aren't going to do that unless you are in some way affected by the leak.

Get on the top floor in the corner of the building. That way the person below you is your only 'neighbor' (usually there are only two units on top, across from one another) and smell will be HELLA easy to control from going downwards not to mention apartment people are real lazy, never come up to the forth floor. Unless you have a major bug infestation no one is going to come spray on the 3rd or 4th floor for bugs.

The only flooding problems you'd have to deal with is if YOU flood anyone and hopefully you'll know this before the employees do and yes having a 15 minute bailout plan works----get a couple 40 gallon storage tubs from target keep it in the closet at all times...something goes sour stuff it all in those. You will probably damage or kill crops but at this point who cares.

If I couldn't get the top floor I, personally would not even attempt it. Just not worth it to get caught before you can get into a house and start some real growing without so much paranoia.

Another good idea is to get one facing the office or entrance to the apartment. I only have one entrance, and I can see it clear as day from way back in the complex (on a hill). Can see everyone entering and exiting...this is not absolutely necessary, maybe a little to paranoid but I'd rather see cops there and unplug my light to cool than below my building...

#1 tip of apartment growing, is the placement of the apartment within the buliding, all your plans will be built around it.

I wish I could find my document I wrote up was really good and informative but I have to wipe my drive due to virus and lost it. Sorry guys

Since you only really NEED personal smoke, start with a cab.

Absolutely the best educational hobby an adult could possibly have.

Keep it small, keep it stealth, keep your brain and body happy.

Everything else is possible from there. :)

(Most of the greatest things in the world start with simple small steps)
