Growing good weed but the buds are a little loose, how to dense up??

I would say its most likely that heat stress is absolutely your problem...you stated your temps getting high at times, but not only that, you mentioned how your 400 was nearly touching, and/or as close as possible...that means they were most likely exposed to even higher temps than you recorded...I have an overkill fan on my cooltube with a 600 hps, and even though it does a good job of moving the heat out of the cooltube itself, there's always some extra radiant heat that seams to just radiant from the light...plus infrared rays are heat rays...i would maybe back that light off to like 10 or 12 inches, make sure all the lower shadow popcorn bud is taken off (train appropriately for a 400), and possibly even add a 600 to that bad boy for 1000W...you could even run mix spectrum

A Metal Halide will not increase bud density when flowering, sorry to bust your bubble.

Really? I thought the increased blue spectrum would result in tighter, denser nugs compared to an HPS. Any third-party opinions?

Thankjs for all the responses, judging from your ideas its got to be either 1) high temps or genetics.

I think we have a very good lumen per square foot, we were growing these nine plants under their own 400 HPS which had a brand new hortilux reflector bulb.

It might have also been the nutes too, Pirate you really recomend cutting Cal Mag???

Those bubba kushes have been dried and they too are very fluffy and airy, i will try to post up pics soon.

ooze smoooze.
thats stuff is like those "natural male enhancement products", but for plants.
a friend of mine is running ooze, plus a few other yellow bottles (not sure what) based on the advice from the shop that just started carrying it. he's dripping in 6x6 ropckwool cubes, using adv connie + sensizym, sweetleaf, sweet, carboload, and the aformentiones yellow bottled products including oooze...

after seeing the results i wouldnt buy oooze. didn;t help him like he was hoping...

Hmm that is very interesting, considering OOZE sells for over 100 a botttle

Have you or a friend run this PLANT before / is it a clone or from seed?

I can get fat tight ass buds from a 400 HPS. So it is possible and may not be your light.

never ran this before, it was my first grow to be honest. almost everything i grow is from clone.

Heres some closeups of a new batch i just harvested, they seem kinda airy too, lots of hairs too, but still is some strong very crystally nug with good smoke, straight two hit killer with a nice smell too, just a little airy!

how far away is your light? if you can put your hand on top of the tip of the buds( the highest points on your plant) and the light isnt uncomfortable then your good

i think it's genetics man. I've grown afghani and Diamondhead under the same light - the aghani came out nice and hard, the Diamondhead was airy.
I wasn't aware the med clubs use "bloom boosters'....
I might try them outdoors.....
