Growing from clone question?

Didn't see it in the sticky at the top, but for those of us that have never grown from clone, after you transplant these babies into a soil medium, normally how many hours/days does it take for them to perk back up?

I can imagine they get quite a shock from this, so I figured 2 days, but they still dont look very healthy, even the ones I was super super extra careful with on the roots...

they are under about 50 watts of mixed spectrum CFL (1 warm bulb, one cool), about 4inches away on average... I only watered them once after i transplanted into the soil, that was nearly 48 hours ago and they still look horrible :(

Having never grown from clone before I dont know if I should be worried, I have seen lots of plants looks bad a day or two after transplanting them the first time, but they never seemed this bad, and plus these girls are so young, and like i said...first time growing from clone.

On the positive side, almost all of them have nearly a perfect nice green leaf left at the minimum, the rest are just wilted way too much.... I thought maybe overwattered, but I just gave them enough were it only dripped out the bottom of 2/6 containers, however all of them got enough water as I could tell from the weight...the only other issue I could possible think of was the lack of additional perlite in the mix, (its about 60% store brand "organic" soil, and 40% seed starting mix *mostly peat moss, with a bit of soil and perlite)...before anyways asks why no per/verm. Well because I didn't get home that night until after the local home depot/lowes/walmart closed, the clones couldn't go in the fridge for certain reasons, and I have started seeds/grown whole plants without additional perlite and never had issues, just made sure the soil didnt get too compacted, which it isnt? And I plan on adding in 1/3 perlite to the mix of soil when I transplant them whenever they are ready...was hoping for 2 weeks, but dunno now?

EDIT: there WAS No thermometer in here, because I am an idiot and it was probably about a hundred degrees for the first 24 hours of their lifes...

On the positive side its also only Saturday! I need to get back to walmart for some more of the cool white CFL's, for those of you that need them, walmart has 2 packs of 26w's that put out 1600 lumens for 6 bucks, as in 3 bucks a bulb. These same bulbs at home depot or lowes are $6 each still, they dont even have double packs...(only the cool spectrum, you can get the warm spectrum for cheap anywhere i think) Just don't proceed to drop and break both of them right when you get home like my dumbass did :/

will post some pics of the girls tomorrow if they dont get better and I fix up there space...enjoy the weekend everyone, while it looks shiatty out, make the most of the time inside...or go run some errands or something, I know I have plenty to do...I had a late fucking night last night, and a very long week, so I have been pretty slow on getting moving today...but we're getting there. I also just realized i have some good water hash left from two really cool people :), so I shall get into that, and then get going to the stores.

EDIT: I just thought of something, I forgot its dry as fuck here, (in addition to my first time growing from clone, its also my first time in this climate, which is totally different from the last place i lived and grew all my babies)

Would this cause them to do so bad? I'll go get a temp. guage with humidty later today, i didnt even think about humidity because i never had to deal with it before. In the meantime I put a nice open thing of water in with them...

They are at least a few inches away...on average about 4, a few were closer like 2 and 1/2, and one was like 6..., and like i said its only 2 CF's bulbs in there right now, I was planning on setting them up 3 per power strip, like is in the grow box tutorial, however after 2 days of them looking so horrible I don't even feel like it.

This is my 2nd bad experience with clones... (the first one they just never rooted, followed intructions on here to a T too). well they ain't dead, so all is not lost yet i guess, they all loook pretty bad.... heres I'm gonna get some pics, and the area they were in, I will be white and the lights will be arranged today at some point, might just arrange the lights, as they were only meant to be in this 'cab' for a few weeks... then into a bigger one....
I am also going to put them over in the infirmary section now, as I am getting a little worried...

On a positive note, i looked over and witness another birth of "the whites" strain today, thats 2/2 from seed...

After reading stich's post quickly in maj.pot head sig, I'm thinkn it must be really low humidity? Is there any quick way to raise this? Yesterday I put two open things of water in there with them, today I took one of those things and poured it out into 4 seperate open trays in the cab on the base of one of the lights...to allow more surface area for the water to evaporate...

I'm thinking you may not have enough roots to support the water needs of the plants - or they don't like the soil mix.

I like at least a couple inches of length with several roots before planting -

What soil are you using?

pH levels?

Low humidity can be a problem - try misting the plants - and possibly using a humidity dome. Lift the dome several times a day for ventalation.

Try misting first - - most the later photos might be too late, but try it if even one perks up - you made progress.

Alright, yet another thing i cannot believe i forgot the other night... well technically it has been 3 years since i last did this....but still.

I really only need 2-3 of these to make it, but it makes me sad, watching them slowly die

just got showered, will be going to the home improvement store in a few for screws to mount the power strips to clear up a ton of space in there and allow for me to get the bulbs really close to the new seedlings that sprouted, or at least closer than now..., and for a thermometer/RH meter, ph tester, although right now i am using bottled water thats at 7.0, i would like it a bit lower, but 7 should be okay...
I am curious what my city water is...although there is so much chlorine it woul have to sit out for days.

EDIT: the soil brand I do not know off hand and is at a totally different location...what ever Targets generic brand of potting soil though.
Found a few peices of mulch in it :(, that i picked out when i was mixing, but i have never had problems before, and those 2 seedings are starting out okay :knocks on wood:

Can you say Fox FArms Ocean Forest Soil?

Dude - if your just gettin started or your a pro - the shit is WORTH every penny of the $25 entry fee for a bag. it'l help keep lotsa problems at bay like pH, feeding younguns etc - -it's formulated for cannabis - I mix mine 50-50 with pearlite - helps drainage and aireation - gets better results too.

also early into rooting - light isn't as important - yes you want floresent - but 6 to 12 inches away if fine - closer will require the transpire MORE water and that won't work till the roots are able to support the plant.

that soil lookt to have a LOT of peat in it,,,,,,,,,,,,, be careful.... soil is simple once ya find what works.

I plant in the styro cups and use the clear ones for the dome (fwiw)

Just a little update;

Just got back from the HD with a temp. gauge with RH meter, spray bottle, and some hardware so i can mount the power strips up and get rid of the two desklamps i have in there now... I am pretty sure the problem was not the humidity, but the temp's when I had the door shut, I thought they were getting into the upper 80s at the most, I just had the door open for a good 2 minutes while getting the thermometer to the very back, closed the door for about 5 minutes, starting smoking a bowl, went back and checked and it was nearly 94 degrees in there and :(... when I first got these I had to leave them closed for nearly 24 hours after i planted them...so they were probably cooking :( 50% humidity in there though on the positive side, thats gotta be all the open areas of water i put in there like 24 hours ago now i think....

The soil def. isnt the problem, it was the temp's i am nearly positive, i just posted that part above on the post i made in the infirmary. I figured it was so cold outside, and only 65*F in here, and when i put my hand in to check the temps it never felt that hot...

can't believe i did that...yes in a perfect world i would be using fox farm soil, i have used it before, but this soil is fine, its made from all "organic" parts, and like i also said, normally i do use perlite/verm but i did not have any on hand, if these babies make it they will get some perlite mixed into there next mix in about 2 and 1/2 weeks...as i discovered i have some at my other loco, i also heard from the only person in this state aside from the people that gave me the cuts that I trust the 2 she took to play with are doing okay, well 1/2 is....and those were put in a 33% perlite mix with no peat moss... i also got these cuts to the place they were going at nearly midnight, know of any gardening stores open then? there is not even a 24 hour walmart around...

I am not a totally newb grower, just from clones....EDIT: and also from small spaces... every other one was done in a closet...I have done 4-5 successful grows from seed, and supervised 2 others close friends and told them what to do/had to post some pics on OG to solve a few problems, etc...
I have had VERY good results using that seedling starter mix with soil and perlite in the past...like i said its mostly just peat moss and soil and a bit of perlite.

I really should slap myself for not having a fucking thermometer in there from day one.... fucking a. I always told anyone that asks me questions before even testing PH you need a f'ing thermometer... and I didn't do it myself?
I decided to give the babies a break and cool off and a rest from light in general, or the majority of it....they will prob get 4-6 hours of no light, try to let them recover, might even put them on a 18/6 schedule for this?

Any thought on this? I have always just used 24 hours strait except for occasionally transplanting or tieing a plant down or something in which we would turn off the lights for a few mins...

yup they looked cooked
You need to let them chill out a bit, I would say the first 4 or so pics are a lost cause, so do not water them, feed them or let teh temps get above 75 ish for the next week or so, Then we will know if the are gonna make it

Out of all the things in the world... I :bashhead: feel like a damn fool :/ . ...the first 4 pics are all of the same plant, i was just trying to capture its weirdness.. the good thing is at least 3 of them still looks pretty healthy or have very healthy parts to them... and i have 1 other one at my location with my perlite that i hear is doing good.

I guess you live in you learn...afterall this is my first grow in a small ass cab in addition to clones, fucking waste of them though :( .I have a feeling the people that gave them too me will probably laugh their asses off when they see this post, but can hopefully give me a few more of none of these make it... I really only want and have room for like 3-4. I was going to pick the best, but now looks like I will take what lives :(

I am going to go shed a few tears and smoke a bowl... guess I can take them all out of there and put them in another dark spot for 4 hours while I finish the cab, although I need a bigger fucking drill bit for some ventilations holes, i have the perfect idea for how i am getting that hot air out of there, i just need to go get an extra computer case fan...

Dude - - so many things you "ment to get" or in a "perfect world" yet still you persist. We know it is illogical to expect a different result from the same methods - but it's no shortcut to start off in the oppisite direction. at least by my maps.

I remeber my "early daze" quite vividly and rember the anguish and distraught a sickly garden causes that is why I make the suggestions, since you know it all - I'll let your plants cook.

Rocky - OUT.

Ive never tried growing an a cabby.

you must not smoke much.
or know anybody else that does

meh, I wish I didnt smoking much, lately i have been smoking way to much and have been buying it, but due to living conditions i can't risk anything more than a stealth cab... to take care of my heat problems, i just went to the next sized cab I was going to use in like 2 weeks... now I got 72w's going on my two baby seedlings, the clones are still in a dark closet taking a nap and hopefully recovering, temp was just at about 80 when i checked a minute ago in the bigger cab.... hope it doesnt get much hotter, now I just need to figure out a way to light proof this cab, as of right now it is not very stealth.
