wouldnt say that dubmantx...go get you some peruvian seabird guano and dose it at regular strength and see what happens to the little ones... BOOM FRIED BABIES LOL
guanos are good...not the best for nubes tho...because of the difficulty in dosing properly...
'sfunny. I use Peruvian Seabird Guano in my soil and compost tea 'em at 1/8 cup to a gallon of water once a month and never had a problem with them burning. But that's just my experience.
do you start when they are babies tho???
The high phos in the psg can sometimes cause burns to unestablished plants...
The stuff works great if you know how to use it properly
Actually yes I do. I start my seeds in soil which has guano, composted cow manure, composted soil and reg old miracle gro potting soil. Also blood and bone meal and some epsom salts. I start em in the same (app. 1 gallon) containers they will veg in. They get no other nutes except for the compost tea, and I don't give them thier first one untill they've been in their new home for 2 weeks. I most definitely agree with you, I think you need to be careful and not overdo it with the amounts. I don't recommend full strength with guano either, especially if you use the pelletized stuff. I'm also curious as to the size of pots scroddumb is using and how big they are. After 50 daze in it it may very well be rootbound, which will also stunt the growth. I noticed that pot didn't look like it was too full of soil.
Don't want ya to get the idea I'm being argumentative, not my intention at all. Just my method, hell everybody has their own way according to their preferences.
3 plants grown from seed in the stuff.
The nearest plant ( the one with the yellow handled container ) is a Magical Mystery Mix, and it does have a slight nuteburn, I've noticed it is very sensitive to nutes. The other 2 Bonzo (oval shaped container) and the BurmaBerry (back, black container) are just eating it up.
that right on stankbud!!! thats the beauty of these forums, so we can have these discussions...and hopefully we can all learn something
I think that a well balanced fertilizer that is easy to use as a STAND ALONE is the way to direct new growers. I'll recomend guano's all day to someone who has handled a couple of crops....and hey grow big has guanos in it too
Your mix sounds interesting...sounds like you've been doing this awhile. Is this the mix you started with?
these were vegged with FoxFarm's Grow Big...bloom nutes are PBP Mazar
Pretty much yeah. Actually used to only use composted cow manure, didn't find out about Peruvian Seabird Guano till a few years ago, but I'm an old farmboy, and we used cow manure pig manure and chicken manure in the garden and on the lawn. Got some PSG free from wormsway with a coupon from their on-line site ( had a store in st. louis I lived close to), tried it and loved it. Used it ever since too. I would have to concur that a well balanced fertilizer that is easy to use as a STAND ALONE is the easiest way to go tho. I was unaware that grow big had guano in it as well, when used together then a burn is almost a sure bet I'd have to think.
Hey scroddumb> before ya head to wormsway go to their on- line site. They still have special on line only coupons, gawd I miss that place.
Just saw your pics there sunnyside, they do look fantastic.Always wanted to try some of that mazar, that strain has been nominated for pic of the month alot!! Hopeing I'll get some purple color budz outta my next grow, BoggyHaze by AnnaC. A sativa crossed with Bogglegum crossed with Somas amnesia haze. Gawd I love this hobby! LOL
lol stank check me out in about a month...That mazar is a nice looking plant for sure, and that one right there is a clone from the POTM winner soooo...i'm trying to give ole southern a run for his money!!
Yep, that explains it, the pellets are a concentrated form. Sorry, if I'd known I'd have warned ya skroddumb.I remember telling ya guano, never ocurred to me ya might get the pellets. My bad............
can ya get a pic up of them in natural light? lose the hps? so I can get a better idea of what they look like? If it'll make ya feel any better, mine weren't a whole lot taller than that when I flipped em to flower, they stretched a foot in 2 weeks then. But mine were a lot bushier too before flower. My guess is if ya flush em good and get em in new soil, you can still get something out of this, but I don't want to get your hopes up too much. I'd also like to see ya get more soil in those containers, as I'm worried about em being rootbound, that last pic the container only looks about 3/4 full of soil.
skroddumb, stankbud's got it well covered ( ). I can give you more hope. I'm at the tail end of my first run, and I really stressed my girls multiple times. I fert fried 'em in early flower, flushed them real well, had to change soil on 4 of them, they all recovered, 3 of them got wispy but then the wisped buds started filling in. The flowering time really extended though, especially when I had pH and under fert problems later. TW should be done in 43-50 days flower, I'm on day 65 and have 3-4 weeks left on 4 of them.
So flush 'em well, give 'em lots of fresh soil, and see how they do over the next week. Betcha you can save 'em.
sunnyside. Your probably right i didnt use any guano until they had a little bit of bulk on em. So the pellets are more concentrated? That what I have. But I usually give em weaker doses in flower cause I water with tea nearly everyday
ok ok, so i added more soil, checked if they are root bound
the little one might have been before i put it in that 5 inch square pot.
the others arent, i have a strong root system on the AK, although shes not as BIG as i want her to be the ww, has recovered. gettin fatty spikey leaves
ill get more pic's up after i do some work.
ok so ive germinated 6 more seeds, if these ones dont make it, im just gonna use earth juice since i havent on these, and thats why they prolly arent going to make it, but i put new soil in there so lets see what happens.
theyre already perky and colorful since i did that i moistened the top inch of the soil lightly. my big girl is showing much maturity, the others are 1 right behind the other in stages. i hope its not the genetics//
