Grow Tents 2021

The last and only tent I ever bought was a Secret Jardin DR120 over ten years ago. I see the 3.0 version out there pictured and I'm wondering if they are still considered a good, quality tent or where else I should be looking? If you have any recent experience purchasing a grow tent, let me know any positive or negative experiences with specific manufacturers.

Thanks!

I just set up two GT 4 x 4s. Good tents. I have them arranged side by side, and the 4' depth is hard to manage with only the front available. The side bars mid height are very useful (CFM kit), I bought other extra bars too, and they all manage to all get used. Look at where the openings are and how the tent will fit your room.

Watch the video from Jeff at PAHydroponics website on "before you buy a tent". He had a good point on height. I assembled mine way different, by my own self, cause I have 1/2" gap on top.

He most likely is referring to Gorilla Grow Tents. I have a 4x4x8. High quality. Main zipper is always a concern as they are plastic (though heavier duty). they open full around both sides. I wish I didn't have mine in a corner because managing the back right corner is hard. AC Infinity is now in the game but has lower height, but better canvas than Gorilla. You will find a wide range of offerings. I would look for something above 600D in canvas weight for longevity purposes.

I have some Secret Jardin 60's from last year for propagation and I like them. Still great quality. I get a discount on Gorilla being a veteran so it was hard to beat their deal. Their High CFM poles really help with negative pressure and pulling in the sides. They also aid in attaching a scrog net or routing wires and whatnot.

Just my .02c.

I have a 3 year old Gorilla & it is standing up well except I lost one plastic tooth on the lower horizontal zipper - probably because I stressed it. It still closes but with care. The extension is a must with a Gorilla or any tent you buy. 8 feet gives you room for all the crap AND 4 - 6 feet for tall plants.

I added a 40"x40"x 73" from Mars Hydro and I would say that the quality is acceptable. The main zipper is not light tight at all when viewed in a dark room but, no issues. The old "light leaks cause hermies" is bunk anyway.

The grow tent market is full of a bunch of cheap junk made at the same plant/factory. Have used several of those value priced tents with great results.

Thanks for choosing our tent. :huggg:

Could be worth a trip to the grow shop. It's hard to compare zips without having them in hand. Things like which side they open, or from top or bottom, can make a good tent a nightmare in your location. The location of the air socks to. So getting what you want may not be about brand at all. Sometimes people post wanting custom tents as their needs are so exacting.

I actually used some of the ports that came with my secret Jardin tent in my gorilla. It's really nice how secret Jardin does ports these days. You cut holes with cutting tools they ship with the tent. Then the ports are either screw together two piece flanges or two piece twist. So I added custom locations to my gorilla. Nothing quite like a good hybrid!

That sounds interesting. I imagine they sell them separately. I had to make mine. Couple of top-hats with their brims bolted together. Such flanges/spigots are fairly cheap, but a bit time consuming.

Another fan of Secret Jardin.

Extra side poles, net and clips included is a great idea.

Larger port sizes a bonus too.
