Grow Store ???

Yeah man they are already looking into that name. This place is heavily monitored by LEO. You can be shut down for blatantly advertising to marijuana growers, and that would include socializing with them. I would think of a new name and not post it here. Good looking on the discreet location. Best wishes...

used to live in chicago and went the hydro store all the time. just put up signs that say none of the products sold are for illegal purposes, and your golden. everytime someone mentions anything related to pot in your store kick them out. make sure your cutomers know to keep their mouths shut. cater to the old folks in the neighborhood. specialize in organic growing. treat every customer like a cop. honestly i think you'll be fine just be cool about it and definatly don't use a name you posted on here. you don't want to seem associated with anything marijuana or your gonna loose all your money, go to jail, and kiss your buisness goodbye. like i said market to the old folks and the stoners will follow.

Is this thread serious?

You are in a non-friendly state and just announced on a cannabis forum the name of your hydro shop.

Expect to be raided federally once you open your doors.

You do realize that you are not allowed to "knowingly" sell people the equipment to cultivate illegally. That will get your shop shut down and all inventory confiscated. Not to mention if your "vendors" catch wind of this thread..they will no longer be willing to vend to you.

Aside from that you've already compromised any customer base which may start to shop at your store. I feel bad for them.

Good luck dude, but you really have no business running a hydro shop if you cant use your head about security.

I would primarily base the location on where the other hydro stores are in town (if there's any) People are LAZY and will pay a few bucks more if they have to drive a few less miles...not saying you're gonna charge a few bucks more...I'm just saying....look how much ppl pay fer a bigmac so they don't have to spend 15 minutes cook it themselves....ridiculous!

Private location is important though...people need to feel secure walking in and out as well as secure while inside the store...people seem to get the same nervousness (glance at the door everytime someone comes in) at hydro store as they would a headshop or pornshop....I guess it's a balance of secluded parking, prime location in relation to other stores, and customer service! I think customer service is huge, you really need to be able to read your customers and figure if they're the type of person that wants to sneak in and out unoticed, or if they will want and appreciate your help...Personally I don't want some guy breathing down my neck trying to sell me shit, but I do appreciate sound advise and a lil chitchat once and a while, but everyone is different...it's a very different kind of store(again think of a pornstore)..and sometimes it's better to let people find stuff themselves unless they ask for help.

Also a very small discount can make a customer really feel appreciated, just 5-10% off can make a person's day and they'll be a customer for life...or better yet throw in some cheepo product for free.

This is all just my opinion though, and I'm just some random guy on the internets, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Good luck with your new business!

I wouldn't worry about heat. You're not doing anything illegal by having a hydro store, and from a business perspective, it's all about location. Having it on a main strip will bring you more business. As far as leo or DEA goes, if they're gonna give you problems it doesn't matter where you are they will do what they do. Also, being in a busy area will make it more difficult for them to keep track of who comes and goes, and where they parked, what with all the traffic.
