Grow Room Plans - Advice Appreciated!

Hey, well I'm pretty new to indoor growing and I would like to setup a small cab. for veg/flowering. Here are my plans so far...


For lighting, I will be using:
6 x 4 ft. 40 watt tubes
3 x 30+ watt cfl's
2 x 2 ft. 20 watt full spectrum

Any new ideas, or advise is fully welcomed!

that is a lot of space to cover with such low wattage lighting. you might need a heater to keep the temperature up during light on. 77 during the day, 72 at night. make sure you use a lot of panda or mylar to maximize that lighting. in your case factor in the cubic feet in addition to the sqaure feet. maybe a c02 generator would do you some good to add heat but also some extra c02. nvermind you wont have enough lighting to take advantage of the c02, a heater will have to do.

Yeah, ya might want to think about using all spiral cfl's ........you won't get much light outa them tubes.

k, well how about splitting that size in half, and then using one for veg, and one for flowering? i will use (4) 23 watt warm spirals + (2) 2 ft. full spec. + (2) 4 foot tubes. For veg, i will use (4) 4 footers, plus (3) 30+ watt cool spirals. Hows that sound? That way i will have a continuous harvest, because me and the couple good friends i have, well I would say we r the 'bob marley' type smokers tired of paying for weed....

Do a bit of study in the Micro Grows section for an abundance of info. on this subject. Just remember that it will take quality lighting for a yield substantial enough to fill the smoking habits of 3 to 4 Marley type stoners.

yeahhh, im probably investing in a 400 watt HPS, but for the time being I thought that I would get some indoor growing experience ... dont want to waste money on seeds and a HPS system... think a 400 watt HPS will fit in 2'x2.5'?

that would solve a lot of problems you might come accross. chepy winged reflectors and raw ballasts for a 400 watt wouldn't be very much money at all, close to what you would pay for a bunch of floros. you could swing bulb ballast and winged reflector for 200 +/- a few dollars

yeah but from what site?? i mean I bought a 400 watt hps system off of htgsupply.com and it blew 2 bulbs within a few days of use..

BTW, does any one know how to make a cheap homemade cool tube? I would believe that ventilation on this HPS system will be a B!tch to get it cool enough in there... Any help would be kool

to cool a single 400 watt hps isn't hard at all. a 4" fan with carcoal filter for exhaust and a passive intake would be more than enough. i probably wouldn't even run the exhaust 24/7, maybe 1 hour on 2 hors off until you dial in the right temperature. I've had 1000 watt mh bulbs un with no intake or exhuast and had rooms 75-78
