If the house is in the "ghetto" and you don't plan on really living there your biggest concern will probably be burglars imo. If you don't plan on actually living at the location and don't have a large grow you might consider renting a condo or apartment. I know people say condos/apartments are bad because of shared walls transferring noise and smell but if you have a tent with carbon filter and digital ballasts and oversized fans dialed down with a speed controller the noise and smell shouldn't be an issue. Apartment/condos with indoor hallways where you have no neighbors able to see you walk in and out of your front door is key because neighbors will never know if your home or not. Nowadays with all the indoor bust news I'd say people are more suspicious of neighbors that are never home and there just might be that one loser of a neighbor that has nothing better to do than sit on the porch and speculate on what the neighbors are up to.
