Alright, so I'm running low on bud from my first harvest, so I'm starting my second grow. I ordered some SD IBL beans from Seedbay (I can't wait to order more from there, I'm very satisfied) and germinated them around March 11th.
They were in damp paper towels for 48 hours, and all three that I started popped. I put them into the bottom half of a solo cup and under four 18" floros (overdriven) which gave around 100w~.
About 10 days in, I filled solo cups halfway, and dropped the seedlings on top of the new soil. They took well, and continued to grow. The pH meter from my last grow had been left on and left out to dry, so I had to get a new one. I'm planning on flowering in hydro this time, so I needed a TDS meter as well. This worked out, and I bought the Hanna 98129 Combo pH/TDS meter.
I just got that calibrated today, and tested my tap water, distilled water, and distilled water after adding each nutrient. I used a half gallon of distilled, and put in 1/2 strength of what I plan on feeding them for the rest of their lives.
I plan on feeding them 17ml/gallon of PBPB Soil and 6ml/gallon of CalMag Plus throughout flower.
I just transplanted them and gave them their first feeding (The last one in the quote above) today, they went into square 1 gallon containers with my soil mix (6.0 pH, no nutes or additives.)
Hopefully now that I've fed them and they're getting pH adjusted water they'll grow a bit quicker and look a little better. Right now they definitely don't look like 26 day old plants. Hopefully I'll get some more lights installed in the next couple days to help them out.
Alright... here's the pictures.
From left to right: My seeds, and my germination method. (Put into my computer for 48 hours, runs about 80f inside.)
First Plant, two shots of it. Topped at first set of real leaves. Currently ~2" tall with 3 nodes on each shoot.
Second plant, about 2" tall with 4 nodes, tried topping but didn't work, Third plant, been a runt since the beginning, beginning to look better though.
Leaves are yellow and crispy I assume because I never was able to check pH or feed them until they were 3.5 weeks old. I'm not too worried, all the new growth looks great and they'll be fed regularly from now on. Just as a comparison, here was my first grow at 23 days. (Was using 150w CFLs (compared to 100w T8s) and nutes from week 2)
I've got some catching up to do if I want to be where I was last time. I guess it was beginners luck.
