Weekend Update

Another week gone and all is well. Another flowering tea today and the older plants all now have trichomes and on a couple of them the pistels are starting to turn amber. According to the seed guide, the Diesel Ryders should be ready to harvest in two weeks, but I'll follow the plants and not the grow guides :)

Sizes are........

7 weeks old:

DR 26 inches
HBD 29 inches (its a beanstalk !)
DR 22 inches
ER 23 inches

5 weeks old:

HBD 25 inches

4 weeks old:

ER 18 inches (big growth this week)

Thats it for now.......

Awesome grow.

Do you reckon that these strains would do good outdoors ?

Cheers:plant grow:

Weekend Update

Yet...another week gone and all is well inside the Bloombox.

8 and 7 weeks old today !

Looking at the plants closely now with the 50x Microscope it looks like this:

1 x Diesel Ryder looks like it'll be ready to harvest in one week

Other DR and one HBD around 10 days.

One Easy Ryder in around 2 weeks

and finally the last HDB and Easy Ryder in around 2-3 weeks

Gave them their weekly Flowering Tea today (not for the DR's - too close to Harvest) and that's about it !

More next week.....

Weekend Update

9 and 8 weeks old today.

Well, its time for the first two plants to be harvested.

The two Diesel Ryders have been in total darkness for the past 24 hours and we've now manicured them ready to start the drying. Pics of them once manicured to follow in a little while. Pics numbered 2,3,4 show them just beforehand.

The older Himalaya Blue Diesel is gone into Darkness today and that will be manicured tomorrow.

That just leaves 3 plants (two Easy Ryders and one HBD - see picture 1 with the HBD on the left) and as you can will from the picture, I've been doing a lot of 'leaf pruning' to try and get some light into the lower buds to get a 'even' smoke as it were.

I think one of the easy ryders will be ready be next weekend and the final ER and HBD a few days after that.....

More soon.

after seeing your 1st attempt at growing hbd and the fact you made mistakes which led to poor yield im still unconvinced about this strain, mmmm

either its your style of growing of maybe its just not as bigger yielding plant as i thought, the amount of stretch in the hbd as forced the buds to space out and not form full colas,

is this stretching due to something you did and can be avoided or is it just when the plant kicks into flower that she stratches tall and spaces out ??

in currently growing il diavolo which is 18" tall and when she hit flower there was nothing i could do to stop her growing, however her bud sites are still very close together so she should form nice colas , id be interested to hear your reply as i do have a femized hbd seen in my fridge but will be loking to maximize her yield, just looking at your last 2 attempts has made me wonder,

also do you think you have improved on your yield from last time round and if so what did you get

cheers and good luck with the rest of your grow

peace

don't really know the answer to any of your questions.

I've only done two grows so I don't have enough experience to know if I'm doing anything that is fundamentally reducing the potential yield.

I can tell you that I'm really happy to be growing in soil totally organically without any chemicals and that the smoke is something special.

With regards to yields on this second grow I'll know more in two weeks when the first three have dried.

The HBD (in my experience) are a fantastic smoke and seem to grow in two different ways - short and stocky or tall and spaced out - i've not had a tall stocky one yet which would be ideal of course !

yeah no worries the bigger yields are being pulled off the short and stocky 1s, thats why i was asking about the stretch in the plants wether it was cause your light was to high or if the plants naturally grew tall in flower.

cheers

Update

Just harvested the first Easy Ryder and put it into dry (See pics)

That just leaves one more ER and one HBD which both look like they're be ready in a week or so.

Also started to Cure the two DR's and one HBD.

As an average they have yielded (dry) 18g each as opposed to 14 grams each with the first grow (using smaller posts to start them and then transplanting after 3 weeks).

I'm a little disappointed at the yields with this new grow as I was hoping for a minimum of 20g per plant, so it was nearly there but not quite.

I think the sole reason for this is the plant pot size (6.5L) but the Bloombox can't really handle anything bigger (or taller) so ....it is was it is !

More next week...... (and hopefully the Easy Ryder will Yield more, it certainly looks like it could !)

Just manicured the last two plants - one HBD (the tall one) and the last Easy Ryder.

Tried the Diesel Ryder last night and it was a fantastic smoke - stronger (if that's possible) that the Himalya Blue Diesel.

Will be back one last time in a week with the final yields and smoke reports.........

The Final Update / Post

All 6 are now curing.

The final scores on the doors are:

HDB (2 Plants) - 44 grams

ER (2 plants) - 44 grams

DR (2 plants) - 36 grams

overall the average per plant is just over 20 grams which is what I set as a target so I'm happy with the results.

In terms of smoke.....

The Diesel Ryder and HBD are pretty much on a par and both are brilliant, amazing smokes.

The Easy Ryder is a little bit mellower (ie not quite as strong) but its still a great smoke and way better than the crap you get off the streets (and its all organic !!!!)

Well thats it for this one......more soon !
