Yes, a simple exhuast fan w/ ducting, like an indoor set-up will work great. They make dehumidifiers with theromstats to be used outdoors and with fans, humidity and temp can be controlled farily easy. Check the GH links thread for sources and examples. Hope this answer your question. I am not the best expert on this site for GH, but hopefully this gets you started and maybe someone else can chime in with more info and pics.

I am building mine right now, so hopefully I can gets some pics for you soon.Peace_highst

I never thought of using a blower but I bet it would work great. I just keep the doors open to let a cross breeze through. I think a high/low thermometer/hygrometer is a must for the greenhouse. It's gives you a lot of insight into what happens inside your greenhouse while you're away.

I'm planning a greenhouse for this summer, and a couple of questions come to mind... How much light to you lose when using a greenhouse, and whats the best material to use? (Glass isn't really an option for me...)
I'll probebly only put my plants under near the end of september, but how long do you think the plants can be grown under greenhouse without mold, or how well does it protect the plants against mold?
Is there anything like a portable greenhouse?
I guess a bunch of questiosn will come when the actual constuction part comes. Awesome thread, has already helped me out allot :)
Blessings

im working on building a small greenhouse and i was wondering what the best material to use for the outside covering is. I want to use something lightweight like opaque plastic but i want a good amount of light to get through as well. The idea is to keep the plants out of sight but let the sunlight in... any suggestions would be great considering theres not much to read up on greenhouses here.

Sorry for lagging on the replies on this thread.

The best material is Polycarbonate (comes in clear, opaque, white, and some other styles), but can be expensive. If you are more on a budget, you can use plastic sheeting like LordBenis's GH (look at the GH gallery thread in this forum for pics and the build)

I think Lord Benis is a great way to go if want something cheap, easy to build/take-down/ move and its very effective.

Hope this h

If you buy the really nice polycarbonate, you will lose almost no light. Glass will let 100% light, but can get hot. Why do you want to put them out in Sept? are you in the southern hemisphere? Mold and high temps can be avoided with exhaust fans and proper air circulation.

If you want a portable GH, check out Flower House Greenhouses

I have one and love it

Sorry for the lag on reply. if you have other questions post them up and hopefully we can get them all answered. peace_highst

I have a couple of reasons for this. 1) I don't know how big the plants will get. 2) The plants will be moved to where the sun shines, thats why I was lookin for a portable GH. 3) My only reason for a greenhouse is let the plants go to mid october without mold, last year my durban molded beginning october.
So basicly they get their final spot at end september under a greenhouse, where its nice and dry and hot.

Thanks for the answers, i'll check out for that polycarbonate and exhaust fans.
Thanks,

Allright a great idea for a thread! So here is my issue- for 2 summers now I've placed a couple girls out in my greenhouse and I was very pleased with they way they took off. However, both summers just a week before harvest some bastard ripped my plant off from my greenhouse doing damage to the door. Anyone have a solution for better security? I've even considered electricfying the metal frame. I have disabled the MV security light because I don't want hermies.

NEVER set booby traps, bc besides getting your shit ripped-off. they guy will sue you for damages. Ever heard of thiefs breaking into houses and sueing once the owner shots them.

looks like a neighbor knows you grow and waits til the end and steals it. I say camp outside during the final few weeks. I live in my backyard during harvest season and stay up all night with my babies. Its crazy, but so am I and I am not having some douche bag rob me.

Good luck, I will think about your delemy and try to help think of some solutions, got some pics, so I know what your working with? Might help

Ever think about building a second fence around your grow. Thats what I did.

Highst- Good thought but I already have 2 fences plus my place sits in the center of 15 acres. I would never doing anything to a living creature!(except mites)- just a Zen boy at heart. I do have a great greenhouse trick to offer. I have 2 30 gal black plastic barrels filled w/ water that support a bench. They are great for slowly releasing heat at night keeping the temps better for those touchy plants

hey everybody!!!!! well this summer i am hoping to do my first outdoor grow, which will be in a greenhouse. i will have room for two plants i hope. there had been a previous summer grow at this house before by a friend and they fit 2 in the same greenhouse and yielded 2lbs. so i know theres gonna be enough room for em to get big.

my question is about odor control for the greenhouse. are there any plants that are fragrant enough to help cover up some of the smell? or is there anything that i can do to minimize odor?
i know low odor strains would be a good idea, but its not a huge deal...just want to secure it best i can.

i am also looking for other fast growing tall plant to perhaps go with them...if any of ya got some ideas.

i am real excited about this chance to grow outside....i just want to harvest a ton of bud!!!

thanks for all the help

welcome, make yourself comfy

try growing some mint or other fragrancy herb, maybe garlic too. Certain roses smell real strong, but bring a shit ton of bugs sometimes, but nothing a neem shower cant handle.

Maddlights- 15 acres, lucky bastard. If I had that it would game over, lol. Do own some dogs? They can be effective for safety and they blow the rippers cover too. People tend to think twice when they hear dogs especially when there's a few of them.

Thanks for the water in tubs tip, thats a great age-old tip that costs nothing. Thanks for posting that, not sure if that has been mentioned in this thread yet.

Keep the info and tips comin guys, lets see more GH in the gallery thread guys, pimp out your set-up. peace_highst

Maybe get a dog, i'm shure they will protect well, but that wouldn't be for this year then. I heard ducks are good security to, they shure as hell do make allot of noise...

I wanted to ask, do you think that by placing my plants under a greenhouse only at end september, would somehow stress the plants? Or delay the flowering or so??

Use thin fishing line to suspend fish hooks 5'-6' above the ground throughout your yard.

booby traps are foolish, unless you like getting robbed and sued be the same person, so he can fuck you again in court and get you on growing charges too. Booby traps aren't worth it.

especailly if cops walk into your yard, stting booby traps that they walk into is seen in court as pretty much the same as directly attacking them. that alone will put ya away for much longer if ever caught after it kills any chance u have of getting off with probation

Hey Folks- Look I'm sorry about not completely editing my poorly thought out comment. :badday: My real point was concerning the securing a basically unlock able door and structure. Can we get back to the Greenhouse questions and tips to aid our hobby?

So does anyone have experience with heat cable? I'm wondering if it would work like a radiant floor heating and raise the ambient temperature of the greenhouse? During the spring I could use a few degrees extra?
