GreenGeek's basement grow..

Hello All!

I'm new to this site. but not new to growing, I use to do a lot of indoor soil grows about 10 years ago. but gave it up cause I didn't have the time. now that has all changed. so I am back to my old ways.

I got a new home with tons of basement space.(1500sf) and will be putting it to good use.

I have 2 rooms that will be dedicated to growing. I am starting out with a soil grow in the first room, 8 1/2ft x 20ft and while I get my genetics dialed in with the first soil grow, I will be constructing a 54 Bio Bucket system from Big toke's "How to of the Bio-Buckets" Thread

One room I have already prepped is 8" 1/2ft x 20"ft, the floor is lined with 20 or 40? mil rubber pond liner (I forget which one), with 3 1k infinity digital ballasts on light movers. with vertizontal reflectors, the room is vented with a Panasonic Inline 440 cfm whisper fan pulling thru a 850cfm Carbonaire scubber.

The Second room is 17ft x 20ft which will be built into a Bio bucket system while my first crop grows in the other room, when I get my genetics dialed in, the other room will be built with 54 Bio Bucket system

I ordered several types of seeds from various oversea's companies

50 pack of Hashberry (Mandala)
10 Northern Lights My Fave! (SensiSeeds)
30 Black Widow (Mr Nice)
10 White Rhino (Green House)
10 White Widow (Green House)
10 Super Silver Haze (Mr Nice I think?)
Plus they gave me some bonus seeds of Durban poison x Skunk ?? and some MOD? something.

Delivery time varied from 16-18 days from the day I sent out my money orders (I was impressed with the delivery times) I had no missing orders what ever, and were delivered to friends house. not mine.

I had a total of 130 Seeds to start with. I planted all the seedlings in Coco Pellets. under T5's

Seedling report:

NONE of the 30 Black Widows (Nr Nice) germed what so ever! I was so looking forward to growing this strain. but kinda pissed about it. Sent them an email, but never got a response,

43 Hashberry seedlings germed out of the 50 pack I got.
9 SSH germed out of the 10 I got.
8 out of 10 NL's germed, 2 of them runted, so I only have 6 worthy of growing
7 White widows out of 10 germed
4 out of 10 White Rhinos germed.

So now I am down to 71 Viable plants.

I was hoping and planning for at least 100 plants to grow, expecting at least 50-65% females when I flip to 12/12, All I can hope for now is to have a bunch of females since I had a lousy germ rate.

Photos will be coming as soon as I figure out how to strip the exif data from the pics and learn to upload them here.

Stay tuned as I document and share this grow.

Ok the pic upload is working on here now, here's a few pics of the room and my kids.

ambitious plans, good luck with the bio-buckets. Use a chiller. ;)
(beat ya too it mid-town!!)

I would recomend you flower your seedlings after 4 weeks veg in soil, take clones for mothers of all females... label them individually. while you are constructing your bio byuckets you can see which females are the ones you want to run.... then you can hve a nice clone run in your buckets.

LOL. Hey man, that's my job! LOL

GEEK- You might want to try a small BB run before you dedicate your whole space to them and put in all that work/money.

IMHO normal recirc DWC buckets are much better. If you want, just ask and I'll go into why, but I don't have the time at the moment.

Thanks Mid-Town, but I am pretty determined to make it work. I already purchased everything needed for this project.

Buckets are all drilled, fittings are all firmly glued and siliconed in. all valves and T's have been glued in, just need to put it all together and start running this baby.

I anticipate making some mistakes along the way, but It's nothing I can't handle and learn from, but if I do find myself in a bind, I got all you pro's to give me tips.

I live in a cold climate area, not really concerned about temps (at least right now I'm not) right now my smaller room with 3k lighting is averaging 71 degree's, and thats with the passive exhaust/scrubber running on and off every 15 mins. with 28-30% humidity. I got lot's of secure venting space.

if I flip the the intake fan it gets pretty chilly in here.

Just an Update on my latest Grow,

first pic shows my grow at 19 days into flowering, the Hashberry is starting to look nice as well as the White Widow, thank god they stopped streching, cuz I didnt have any more room to move the lights any higher.

The SSH are the Tall ones on the left and right sides of the pic. looks like only one of them are showing the more desirable pheno type. I may have to chop the others as they just keep streching and streching.

second pic is one of the Hasberry's

3rd pic is my 48 Bio Bucket project I am putting together  , you can see on the right side of the pic where my other room is at

Got clones going already for the BioBuckets, and as soon as this crop is finished I'll be building a second Biobucket set up in the othe room next to the one pictured.

btw it looks like someone sent me a PM on here, I'm a Noob, and need 50 posts before I can read and send PM's just fyi to who ever sent it to me.

so Out of 71 seedlings, I came out with 37 girls.

Plus I was gifted 4 clones from what appears to be a nice pheno type grown from Bagseed, So far she looks wonderful, is short and very stocky, and looks like she will be a very dense top heavy girl, this is her at day 19, and only 20 inches high.

I can't wait for her to ripen up! the guy who gifted me this clone recently destroyed the mother due to thrip infestation. he is a new grower and didn't know what to do, when I got these clones they were infested with thrips, but I took care of them bad boys. and these girls are quite healthy now.

Trich Porn

Trich Porn

Just an update on my grow show,

One of my Hashberries hermed on me, and was quickly removed from the garden 5 days ago, it dropped some pollen, but it don't look like it managed to pollenate any of the near by plants. got lucky I guess, but we'll see, so now I am down to 40 girls.

was bored so I pulled out my 100mm canon macro lens and took a few shots, I might try and use my X1.4 extender and see how much closer I can get.

So I present you some Trich Porn, Enjoy!!! Dang, only 41 more posts before I can read my PM's!!! Ugh!

first one is a close up shot of some White Widow I am growing, 28 days into flowering, and she is already showing some cloudy trichs, does anyone know how long white widow needs to flower before she is truely ripened?

the next 3 are Hashberry.

Regards all

Oh man that hashberry looks sexy!

I actually have Hashberry(mandala/seedboutique) on order so I will definitely keep up with this journal.

Very nice.

Thanks for the Kind words guys. I'll be updating with more pics on a weekly basis.

I'm a photo buff, so I am going to be taking lots of pics, and can't wait till harvest day.

another another note, all my lights are on timers, and come on a few mins apart, in doing so, I couldnt wait for one of the lights to come on so I can start taking pics, so I clicked "On" the timer manually, and forgot to put it back on "Auto" as a result, one of my lights didn't turn off!!! and stayed on an extra 3 hours! how will this affect my crop if any??? will it mess it up badly?

Very jealous of the space and the strains.

Sorry to hear about the black widows, have you given up trying to contact them about it? I haven't dealt with them at all, but if they didn't even reply to this issue then I doubt I ever will. Gotta stick by your product.

Good to hear your a photo buff. Cause I'm a picture addict. I'll be keepin tabs. Good luck on the upcoming harvest.

Very nice grow going on here. A most impressive set up. I am as well following Mandala strains, so I will be keeping an eye on your grow

Good luck

Nice grow man!!! Good luck with the Bio-Bucket system its really a b***h to master. I only had one successful grow in the system, the rest were plagued with issues (brown algae, root rot, bad pumps etc etc....) I just resurrected my old setup now and I'm praying for the best....Check my sig to see my failed last run...
