algae. . .
block the light with something that isnt metallic, or wrap something metallic in duct tape. .
no worries tho, its only serious when it compete with the child. . .
block the light and youll be all set. . .

I think it will be OK. The algae will die when covered.

the algae should die as long as u deprive it of its foodsource (Light). . .
otherwise remove it and replace it with some more. . . (are those grow cubes>? or is it an actual block>?)
