Green Mountain Seeds distribution agreement with ACE Seeds

Question on the Mountain Gold.
I'm planning to do a F2 hunt from seeds I made last year.
I'll be making a straight selection between either the green or purple phenos.
I want to pop a bunch.

The total numbers I can pop to start with for the hunt... will be limited by how long I must keep them to reliably make my selection. 🤔
Or I'll just out grow the propagation tent.

If you could give me your best estimate.
I was wondering how tall they would have to be to show definitely purple or green so I can figure clearance between shelves?

I was also wondering how many weeks old they would need to be?
Then I could figure a start date.
6" tall and 6 weeks? 8" and 8 weeks?
What would you guess?

With those two data points I think I can reverse figure out how many I can start with a cushion and how soon.
It's just to get them all started.

Then I'll transplant the selected one.. moving them out on the back porch when they get too big.

Thanks

I can say hands down that purple satellite is one of the most unique strains Ive grown, especially for a pure sativa. Almost no side branching whatsoever. Just grows like one long....well....purple satellite

If someone wanted to run a sativa in sea of green without training this would certainly be an ideal candidate
How much do they stretch from the flip? Are they Donkey dicks?

Oaxacan Gold is getting her fade on. The seeds from her Red Snake fling are getting closer to ripening it looks like. I'm very curious to see how the progeny turns out.

Aromas are losing the initial sweet floral component but there is still a subtle whiff of it now and then as I move the plant around. But mostly she is musky now. A stem rub comes away sticky and is strongly scented with terpentine, oil paints, pine and a musky funk as it fades out on my fingers.

I was thinking about growing some Thai genetics outdoors last season at 42.2N. 🤔

I was only 3 seasons back to growing.
I wanted to scratch an old itch from my youth, repeat a favorite weed memory from around the late 79-80's.
Doing some reading I stumbled upon Green Mountain Seeds, vermontman, and all the wonderful folks in this thread.
Soon, I was caught up in all the old stories and camaraderie.
Brought back a lot of good memories.
I've had similar experiences as vman growing up and the all-around vibe of the post first drew me in. I went back through and read them all.

It was going to be difficult to get the Thai to grow just as it was back the first time 40+ years earlier.
I started to rethink my plan.
I started looking up the weather in Oaxaca! 😃
---------
My first puff ever was some Mexican herb.
Seeds and all in a friends brass pipe made of fittings - behind the bleachers at the Friday night High School football game in 1973.
Snap - crackle - pop!
I was 15. Go Devils! 👹

I landed on my head on a trampoline in an accident in gym class 3 years earlier and tore myself up pretty bad.
Lucky the doctor said.

When I took that first big inhale
I could feel the tension and pain in my neck and shoulders just melt away.... it was just amazing.
Then, an older student who had wanted to beat me up just the week before took a puff with us, shook my hand, and told me maybe I was cool after all! 😁
--------
I spent the winter last year reading as much as I could and made an account just so I could participate. I wanted in on the fun everyone
seemed to be having.

I ordered a pk of Green Mountain Grape and Purple Satellite feminized seeds from NASC leaning in on all the successful stories posted here about growing them in Northern latitudes.
I had my seeds.
Now I just had to wait for Spring
I started reading the thread again.
And then I saw this post... 😯

"I suspect the very stretchy Mountain Gold may have some of the most uplifting Sativa effect that people are looking for when they grow pure sativa. Just a guess." vman

Aww, that sounds good. 🫤
The Thai were stretchy. I was looking for those uplifting Sativa effects...
Would they finish this far North?

Dang, I hadn't made a bean in over 40 years. 🫘
Life had taken different turns, but I had always enjoyed it. Was pretty good at it for the time/peers.
The problem was my girlfriend only wanted me to have 2 plants at our current location.
The thought that the MG was what I needed was haunting me.
I wrestled with it for a while.
Decided I wasn't getting any younger and ordered a pack of Mountain Gold regs.
I would settle it with my girlfriend later.

I grew out the whole pack of 11 seeds and got 8 females and 3 males. 9 of the plants were purple, and 2 were green.
The earliest, largest male was green, and I had 2 purple males.
I kept them all for the most diversity

I kept the only green female and 2 of the best purple females.
I made several crosses.
In some, mixing all the genetics for diversity down the road.
Some we're very targeted and tagged - green to green, green to purple pheno #2, etc. so I could pick favorites after the smoke test.

Turns out it's green 💚 for me.

The green pheno MG female has been my favorite of 6 varieties I grew last season 8 if you count phenos.
MG Purple pheno #2 is a close second.

The green selection has become my preferred morning puff / daytime smoke over everything I have grown over the last 3 years.
Some 15 different kinds. 🏆
I think I've found my direction.
I'm tickled and looking forward to popping the F2's and searching for more green. 💚

I'll do proper smoke reports for all the varieties soon.
Just caught up in getting ready for the upcoming season.
Just wanted to get this out there.
I'm looking forward to everyones grows.

Thank you Vman for all your efforts.
This has been pretty special.

Man that is a tough question! So many variables. That being said. I find that they as all my strains are so very stable you almost cannot pic a favorite. I would say start with about a dozen and work your way down from there. You favorite female can be reveged and cloned to fill your tent again, best I can figure.
Hope that helps?

GMGrape F8-D54/D83 f/seed. This was the runt from post 4378. Still pretty small but showing some nice coloring, not to mention lots of fuzz. Still mostly a rotten fruit smell. Won’t be a big yielder due to her size but she’s fattening up nice.

OH BOY! @mr.pistil!
That is the purple that sucked me into all my purple endeavors.
It has been stated that purple cannabis is not as potent as green cannabis. BUT after many year from different breeders including myself, I find that breeding is like pottery, or any other art form. Tweaking all the variables until one come up with desired results.
I am just thrilled! That my desired results and values I have held dear are seemingly so appreciated by others, especially in this world of everything being just a fad.
Again thank you all!

Hey @HarleyJammer!
I think it is a recessive that may be triggered in the Oaxacan by the Hawaiian, but maybe leaning a bit more on the the Oaxacan like you suspect. I used my Oaxacan green line in the Mountain Gold. last year I crossed my Oaxacan Purple female with a Oaxacan Gold green male that both originated from the same 1978/79 Oaxacan line, and all the offspring are so far all green.

vman,
Curious how this ended up turning out? 😃
Part of my quest to pop some seeds and select for the green. 💚

I have seeds from a direct cross of a green male to a green female that I planned to hunt.
I also have seeds I made from that same green male with my favorite purple pheno #2.
Thoughts were to shelve that project for another season due to space considerations.
But maybe?

I did take Botany in the 9th grade. 😉
But I won't pretend to have a real understanding of Mendelian genetics, punnet squares, ressesive alleles, etc.
I do try and pay attention though.

I had even brought up the subject to a friend that maybe I would find the green I wanted in the green to purple cross. 🤔
Keeps popping up in my thoughts because of space limitations.

Then I found a screen shot of your comment in my notes and thought I'd ask how they turned out. 🪴

Hello @moose/MI!
That grow went quite well and I selected out a clone simple #2 Green X purple line they both originated from the same genetic line some years ago, but in #2 there is a little more sweetness and my green line clone C is more pine cleaner but both have exceptional highs. And clone #2 came out more green.
