6 months, that's triple the patience i have..of course you need to cure it for 3 months before smoke report.
So after having a chance to really get into the Purple Haze x Thai - I have to say, this stuff is so close to my other 26 week Pure Purple Haze that there is practically no difference.
After sitting in a jar for a few months, the Pure Purple smells like blackberries to the max. The Purple Haze x Thai smells like blackberries with a very minor hint of sandalwood / haze / old school sativa.
Taste is the same story, slightly different flavor but unless you had them back to back, you'd never know the difference.
The high is again, the same story. My Pure Purple Haze is dreamy, clear but kinda psychedelic, it also tends to make you hungry about 30 minutes to an hour after smoking it. The Purple Haze x Thai is clearer, with more energy - but again, it's so close to my haze that they're basically interchangeable.
All of this I attribute 100% to Dubi's expertise in selection. He was looking to create a faster, more vigorous, higher yielding, less finicky plant with all the same flavors and effects and he has REALLY outdone himself, as per usual.
Cali is where it all started dude. When I went to Amsterdam in 89 Skunk, Northern lights and some shwag. Was on the menu.Look ay almost any Hybrid in Amsterdam, and you'll see somewhwere Skunk #1, and Northern Lights. It's not a coinsidence that that was two of the first strains brought over from Cali. There was a lot of good hash. But to say you don;t know where Cali got it's seeds,Where do you think Haze, Skunk. NL, Blueberry, I could go on and on. Ive smoked a lot of Colombian the early 80's, and it was so so.Upper grade. But some good Oaxacan spears were better. I really don't get the Colombian trip.Thai and good Hawaiian was the shit back then till Thai sticks dried up. And anyone that lived in Cali back then knows that one didn't just drive up Humboldt way and ask for weed they won't even give you a glance. It was a very tight knit growers back then. Now their are so many Holland based US breeders, I get them mixed up. That's why I stay with ACE. It's the closest, you can get to 79.Hey Randy, whats up!
sorry brow but I must disagree with you.... I don´t know how the scene is in Cali, so don´t really know the origin of seeds you guys grow, I think most of the stuff that gets to cali , is all worked up and selected, so eaven if you get a batch of seeds with many fenotype expressions, its preety much selected and you won´t see all the line offers....
I think the quality of the herb basicly depends on few factors, how it was grown, where it was grown, and genetics ... how it was grown, because novice growers tend to pick early, don´t cure correctly, and many plants don´t show thir true " bliss" if not cultivated the right way.... where it was grown, is also important because many variaties will only show all the power, in its place of origin.... an example, is some hawaiian strains, that cultivated outside the island don´t really live up to its name,..... and of course genetics....no need to explain the importance of parental stock to you good people =)
that said, I´d like to say, that in the begining of my ganja cultivar experience, I didnt have may places to buy top quality seeds, what I had was the option of buying brick weed from Paraguay and germinate the seeds, or buy huge quantities of colombian lines from a friend that was living there and knew the guys in the business....
I did both things, the beans from paraguayan brick, really impressed me, there are quite a few types of brick arround, I always go for the best.... weed is preety cheap arround my area.... in paraguayan seeds you usually see pure sativa plants, with long flowering fenos... but preety much a worked line, i´m certain some fast flowering plant was mixed in the middle due to bud structure, and high......
and there were also the colombians.... to be more specific... colombian mango ( mangobitche) colombian rojo ( punto rojo ) colombina ( la mamba ) santa martha colombian gold ( el oro ) and the ... colombian highland .....
all these were dead on sativas, with no sign at all of faster indi hybrids mixed...full on sativa divas,
man, I planted hundreds of these colombians.... and some fenos wer +20 weeks of flowering, and not all of them were good! .... I´d say most of them, were OK .... but a big percentage of them were crap brother, no resin, awfull hary buds with no beef, bland smell....preety horrible weed.... but then you find verry few of these trully blessed plants that reeeeeek sativa dankness! and make the wait wothwhile....
I doubt you will find crap plants in ACE or CBG south american sativa lines, because they come selected and stabilized, but if you buy them in bulk or get some seeds from local south american brick you´ll find some extremly long flowering sativas that are worth less then a fried egg!
sorry for writing this much just to say that there are long flowering sativas that are no good, but since english is not my first language, I try to be verry detailed in what I say so I´ll be understood!
and SOOPY ....don´t stress about it bro... is all good!
stay in peace, all the best to all growers arround the globe!
