Green Crack - how long is flowering period?

I'm growing a Green Crack clone and she's been flowering for 3 weeks (first pistil grew on 5/25). I've read that the GC flowering period lasts for appx 45-55 days. This is my first grow and I'm not sure what to expect after the flowering phase is complete (nor do I know exactly when flowering is complete).

How long does it take for the buds to mature? Does it start budding at the end of the flowering period? Where do I look for the trichomes to figure out when to harvest?

Get yourself a 30x microscope. Look at the Trichomes closely, the liquid looking things on the bud itself.

The ideal time to harvest is 40% amber trichomes, 40% cloudy, 10% clear.

More amber = couch lock high

More clear/cloudy = uplifting less heady, more body buzz.




Also people always claim times for a strain, but under different lighting and growing conditions times fluctuate tremendously. So base it off the Trichome colors.

i'm obtaining this cut again real soon had 1 cut die on me
from what i've read here and have been told shes a 40-50 day runner she'll produce quite nicely in this time. especially when you dial her in

How long does it take for the buds to mature? - 40-50 days after flowering is started i start count day 1 of 12/12

Does it start budding at the end of the flowering period? - no from clone you should see flowers starting to stack approx 12-14 days by 18 days you should have devoloped buds started by 28-30 days you should have nicely formed buds

Where do I look for the trichomes to figure out when to harvest? - normally the trichromes are on the smaller leaves growing from the buds them selves

see all the sugar thems the trichromes now go to your local radio shack store if your in the US and buy this

i take a white peice of paper and take just snipits the very tip of a tric covered leaf from top mid and bottom of bud to be inspected. place these snipits tips onto the white peice of paper and inspect with the Illuminated microscope. a whole new world opens up when you 1st peek into it esp at 100 power

inspect a few buds from each plant in this manner

I'm rockin' some 'GC' myself right now (GC-GreenCrack, thx Dust! PK-PurpleKush, thx Ry! & MK-Masterkush, thx Pete!). It goes about as long as you'd mentioned; a little longer than seven weeks for small-medium sized plants, imo.

I have run green crack, lost it in a security scare (wish i had it back), but when I ran it I was pulling anywhere from 49 - 50 days

I have heard that you can pull at 45 days but smoke is at its best when pulled at 60.

Hey Major, the last one was taken at 47 days and had no cure. I have a little left that I am saving for this weekend so you can tell the difference now that it has been curing for about 6 weeks. I have a couple going now that I will probably take as soon as 42 days as I like the more sativa side of the high. I was told that another guy growing this cut had all cloudy trich's as early as 36 days and pulled 2 ounces per plant in 2 gal bags.

Cut at 52 days, 400w HPS 1/2LB yield.

she is a quick one thats for sure i usually chop at around 49 days from the first day flop to 12-12..... and yea i have in a pinch chop one down at 38 days and it still was great smoke with decent yield ,,,but waiting the extra days is sure worth it that shit gets dense and sticky in the last few days

I have been running this cutting for a while now. It can be pulled at 50 days. However I would strongly suggest at least 55 to 60 but not much longer than that. As others have suggested if you want to be completely sure take a look at them with a jewerys loop. The other thing is that this cutting gets pretty thick so keep air moving on them as molds can be a problem. Its very good smoke not the best in the world but damm fine and tastie too. Plus I haven't had anyone complain once they see these frosty ass nugs in a bad. My GC doesn't turn purple at all and I have run it in a cold room. I know there are cutting of this floating around so just be aware the people are putting cutting out there that might not be GC. I am not talking shit about anyones cutting I am just saying that the GC is in right now, so many people are trying to cash in in order to make a quick buck. Hope your ladies turn out ok.

unless conditions are perfect for the entire process, which most of the time mine are not, greencrack comes down before week 9. IF the conditions are perfect greencrack can be taken to week 10 with great results. i haven't ever pulled before 56 days. the smell and resin content seemed to be at peak around then but i didn't like the high effect so i run it longer.

i agree with brasta the high is lack luster (everyone i know chops at around 55 days, mine was better IMHO at 63 days) so wait the extra week and half and pull some more weight while your at it

thanks to all for your replies and guidance. i have a followup Q: i'm 23 days into flowering and I only have white pistils, no bud yet. is that normal? most of you say that i can harvest at 50-60 days from beginning of flowering, which means that my buds have 30ish days to grow and mature - am i on the right track even though my buds havent started yet?
