Great Taste or Great High

I went for "stoniest" although nice tasting smoke and a good high/stone all in one would be preferable.

Having said that, earlier this year I grew Ice from female seeds. Conditions were o.k, but they flowered in lower temps which added a month or so till they were ready. When dried and cured, I remember a lack of odour and thought.....oh dear. Completely covered in resin and very sticky. When smoked, you wonder why the taste is so bland. All pheno's were like this. But then after half way through a joint you begin to get an effect, then 20 minutes later your nailed to the chair, shitfaced for the next couple of hours....this is one of the most potent strains I've grown.....however no real taste....so I go for effect.

Last grow was C99 from female seeds and the flavour's were all nice and grape fruity and others of pineapple and some inbetweeners ( citric ). Different strain to Ice and also effect. Still potent and on a couple of pheno's you gotta be careful due to the racy, paranoid high if overdone......But the Ice really gets you wrecked.

Most friends prefer the Ice......so I go with effect.

There have been a lot of interesting post here and your's is one of them.

I will try to word my threads better as many of you know English is my second language (although I do have a thing on the wall that says that I majored in English from a major university).

The differences between the best bud(s) for overall effect can be subtle. I would like the think I have discerning taste and that I can entertain the senses as well as the mind, the bar has been getting increasingly high (pun intended) in recent seasons.

If people would just learn how to vap well, this would all be a non issue. I am not talking about the conduction vaps like so many portables are, but a real convection vaporizer, preferably connected to a bong. I bought a stienl heat gun on ebay for $50 and paid my local glass blower $20 to blow me a custom heavy bowel that a medium sized bud will fit into without being crushed. Infinite heat control up to 1500 degrees and variable air control gives you the perfect shotgun without the smoke and harshness. I grow weed for others to smoke and when I do I really go easy on the nutes and clear it and actually cure it for months or even a year to get a good taste when it burns. But when I grow for me and my vap, I dispense with all that bull and load the plants up with all the nutes they can take right up to harvest with no clear and no real cure needed, because when you vap all that crap is left in the dross of the bud. What do you think, do you think that your good burning pot is as potent as my shitty burning but wonderfully vapoing pot? I know it isn't because I have done side by side tests with both methods. There is no contest, just when your buds are ready for the finally push, you are starving them, and I am blitzing them with nutes of all kinds. Now if only someone would produce a truly portable vaporizer without any plastic in the air channel, that actually uses convection, I would stop producing weed to burn all together and concentrate solely on the potency and pristine handling. Because if you vap, as I said, it is all a non-issue because all weed tastes wonderful, unless you dry it in an oven or something incredibly dumb.

Actually my glassblower didn't make me a custom bowel, it was a bowl, that the tip of my heatgun fits into perfectly to make an air tight seal.

I would rather have a great-tasting indica (skunk/pine) of moderate buzz over any killer blood-rushing to your head sativa. I didn't really enjoy the sativa buzz when young, and now I am a geezer & enjoy the flavor, relaxation & pain relief...

Breeding for the black market has put undue emphasis on outright potency. Most everybody wants the most bang for the buck, regardless of the taste or the nuance in the effect.

That's because the price is rather inelastic & artificially elevated, supply spotty & irregular.

Legalization leaves room for other considerations. Once weed is strong enough, once it's determined to be very good to excellent in the potency dept, then a person can choose for other qualities. Something not too strong & a bit daydreamy w/ some energy for fishin' & hiking, even for housework & gardening. Something little more somnolent for night time, if you're staying on the couch. Something with electricity for the show at the planetarium. Different effects for different situations, something that we really can't get with alcohol. All of it tastes good, if not great, when properly grown & cured.

I've become rather un-fond of commercial hydroweed because it doesn't taste right, being rushed to market. Some hydro is quite good, however, but only in the hands of an expert & not too greedy grower. That's almost a contradiction in terms, sad to say.

Growing for the tourists is becoming a real racket. OTOH, mediocre Colorado Schwag may be better than what they're used to for all I know.

I have my favorites but in general I'll go thru 2-3 different strains thruout the day depending on how I'm feeling that day but prior to retiring for the day I am so thankful that I stocked up on platinum girl scout cookies a little over a year ago. While I've had several different platinum gsc's , it is the one I got circa june last year that has both an amazingly wonderful taste combined with a knock you silly strength.

Aye, "all things must pass", thus sayeth George Harrison, I will be sorry when this one runs out as I haven't had anything taste quite as good. Thankful however for that hoarder mentality......but I should have bought more, so next time someone offers me something like it again I'll just say
