I bought a Hunter's Ear listening device years ago. It is so you could hear things in the woods at a distance. I actually bought it for my mother to listen to TV because she hated hearing aides. It worked good. However, if there were people talking or other close noices they would be super loud.
If the cosmic microphone could hear a soccer ball size object moving anywhere in the Milky Way wouldn't it be drowned out by the sound of traffic or people crunching Doritos on Earth?
