found these at a med dispensary in cali, 55 an 8th, didnt look too bad and the smell was fantastic:

Killer smell to this stuff, smells like pineapple tropical berries, very fruity - one could get tired of this pretty quick if your not a big fan of fruity strains. The high wasnt that strong - pretty mellow, id think it was good for watching a movie before bed. I just found the high to be pretty neutral and lack luster. I was expecting a real treat in the stone dept based on the frost on the inside of a nug and the smell of it, but it just never showed up. A few others who shared it with me noticed it does have a fuzzy face feeling you get after a few bowls of it, but it doesnt last long enough to be worth smoking more.

The density of it was nice and could of been a little harder to break up if it was fresher as it would be a bit stickier on the inside. The smell was where it was at on this one, I think i might actually taste the bud more than the high lasts for. I would put this herb in my giant joint jar. Every once in a while if im going on a hike I will roll up a giant joint of something tasty that doesnt blast me to the moon - this would be my choice herb for that event. If your goin to the folks house for thanksgiving dinner, you can burn one of these outside the car before you go in and no one will suspect a thing. Youd have a nice comfy buzz, the only problem is it doesnt last longer than forty mins to an hour after a few bowls.

If their wasn't a floral taste to the smoke, it wasn't real Ape. It doesn't really sound like it by your description either, but thats just by my experience.

The problem with smoke reports, is that they are the report of one person who may have a different sense of taste and smell. If you were to sample Sauron's buds, you may experience a floral taste where as Souron doesn't. They sure look like some very nice buds to sample none the less!

thanks everyone for taking the time to read and always thanks for the responses, appreciate them very much!!

Mr. Green Genes, i could see this strain being floral very easily, in fact the smell of my sample does have a very floral smell to it when it is just sitting there in the jar. I had originally checked the floral box for smell but when I broke it up I was taken away by pineapple and tropical smells, id say its a cross between pot of gold (floral without the skunk ), jacks cleaner (uber candy smell), and pineapple Diesel (candied pineapple).

Just sitting here now I have opened the jar three times and the first two smelled like a flower outside, and the last one smelled so much like pineapple it makes me wish I had bought more pineapple diesel. Its really odd how these two smell so much like pineapple, it reminds me of how the aeric77 calio smelled like "oranges" and then came the jackie o from nebu which drowned you in OJ. This pineapple D and the grape ape have such a strong candy pineapple taste its hard not to lick your fingers after breaking it up, you know what im sayin?

HarryNugz: nice nickname! haha cracks me up. thanks for pointing that out, I totally agree with you. Its weird how much our senses can differ, i think its funny when some people cant smell certain smells whatsoever, unless its their own stink, they can have that all to themselves.

ANother: thanks for takin the time to read all that! stay safe brotha!

I have found that Grape Ape allthough excellent in taste and smell just doesnt measure up to Urkel in potentcy or taste, it is more similar to Grandaddy to me in the potency dept. The Ape allways has an exquisite look and smell but the smoke just doesn't match up even though it does taste and have the room smelling like grape welchs jam

$55 for 3.5 grams of weed! from a med dispensary!

thats on par if not worse than street prices! for the folks who get stuck buyin 1/8ths....

glad you liked it!

PS, anything purple has a floral or "purfumed" aroma... ime.

good report.
Peace, bub.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Phillypride- I agree 100%, there are quite a few others that pack a bit more punch in both departments.

dfa: IMO experienced smokers out there would definatly agree with you.

ldt: yeah I have had some samples grown half-ass and ran them myself and they were stonier, but only the first few bowls then im totally used to the small upgrade in potency.

OG Bub- where have you been buddy??? dispensaries prices are RARELY equal to that of local street prices, often they are far far more than that. Hell there was just a post about og platinum super kush at $95 a eighth :nono: ...i seen plenty of em going for $60-75 an eighth...thought it was common knowledge that dispensaries were more money- guess I was wrong. Incase you missed it when you read the report, I gave it a 6.5 overall - far from liked it, but it did have a nice smell to it. Stuck buying 1/8ths??? where did you imply that from??

Incase you havent had the chance to experience the majority of clubs in california, like some of us have - there are many many dispensaries that offer no volume discount. So a strain going for $65 1/8th, to buy an oz would be $65 x 8 = $520 for an oz, more and more dispensaries are starting to offer better prices on ounces, and some are offering good prices on quarter pounds - if they sell that much - most have an oz a day limit. IME there are far more strains that arent worth time to review than worthy ones, so to purchase an oz of each strain is silly. If i can spend 8 times less money to get the exact same results I will continue to do so. Just for shits and giggles, typically a 50 1/8th is 320-360oz, 55 1/8th 350-400oz, 60 1/8th 400-500oz, 65+ 1/8th 450+. these just totally random prices, had i gone to a random club this is what i would see on the top level board for their best chronic. you can buy way cheaper herb if youd like to however.

I have seen $750 oz's and $100 oz's, and $200 qp's. None of which I would personally buy - have plenty of my own home grown yum-yum treats that are far better. But every now and then you come across a treat - like the pineapple diesel - i have bought that everytime i see it regardless of price, and everytime i have been 100% GLAD that i did and would do the purchase again. In fact I think that is something I will add to the smoke report section from here out - "would you buy this again?" Thanks for the idea.

The reason I do these reports is for you, so the next time you stop at a disp and something catches your eye you might pass on it or pick it up. had you read this report you would have more buying power as your now a slightly more informed consumer... And for the folks who arent in cali / med mj friendly states and cant experience what we have the opportunity to take part in, i do the reports so they too can get a good idea of what its like. Some are blown away by the selection, others are blown away by the prices, others are blown away you can walk in an open door on a public street in USA and buy marijuana in public view. Sure I love to sample all kinds of mj, and I go out of my way to aquire these samples and write the most accurate report possible and sometimes I spend a pretty penny to do so. And would I do it all again - oh yeah.

PS, anything purple has a floral or "purfumed" aroma... ime.
I take it you dont live in california? Because someone of your experience level im SURE has to have come across some purple that tastes and smells different - i know all our noses are different but cmon! Plenty of purple out there that has far different smells than floral and perfumed. Heck you can grow the same strain a few diff ways and have it smell completely different. im sure someone of ya experience has a safe place one can send samples to - im always happy to prove someone wrong :muahaha: :rasta:

right on man, thats PRICEY! imo..
I did read the report my friend, I personally consider anything above a '5' decent smoke, but Im shure our scoring may be different.
my friend, I ment nothing insulting when I spoke about buying 1/8ths, was merely relating it to the high cost, n how it would suck to have to pay that much for medicine.

hey bro, actually, Ive never been to cali. so I lack any knowledge of clubs, their prices, or even street prices there. I just know up north here the prices are lower, they vary, but so does the quality.

nope, not in cali here..
sher, Ive smoked a good few purples, personally, Ive found that a dominantly purple plant has a specific aroma and flavor, present from strain to strain.
Im not saying they are all the same, just that I notice a specific similarity between the flavor and aroma of the purple lines I have experienced.

for example, Shaman and purple indica.. one sativa, one indica, while both quite different, I can taste and smell the 'purple' in them both.

thanks for yer reply and thanks for the report!!
Peace, bub.

I can't believe you like the santa barbara pineapple d so much. I know the guy who busted those seeds, its a reeferman strain and does'nt contain any diesal. its honey B, which is a unreleased strain by reef. reef gave seeds to the owner of hortipharm

wick650: I cant either, everyone else who has tried it has really enjoyed it as well. Their Pineapple wasnt impressive, the diesel's werent impressive either, but the pineapple D they had in stock everytime i have gone is yummy and has a really nice head high to it. I was just going to go smoke a bowl or two of it and can smell the pineapple stink drifting in from the other room.

Any reason ya dont believe that I like it so much? you seem surprised by a good review of it. Thanks for the heads up on the beans from reeferman, maybe I can get ahold of him or one of his crew and get the low down on this one, unless you already have some info and dont mind sharing with the rest of us! Thanks!

I don't fault you for liking it, I just find it slightly bizarre as I witnessed the progression of that strain. A couple growers in S.B started pumping out the honey b in the last year, and have renamed it several times. It also goes by the names nightshade (although its not the nightshade that competed in the cannabis cup), pineapple kush and now pineapple diesel.

Here's the short history of the strain... the owner of Hortipharm received seeds @ the cannabis cup from reeferman. Reeferman told J @ horti that he wanted to run the strain in the cannabis cup that year (the 2005 cup I assume), but for whatever reason he did'nt. J @ horti said he was told the pedigree was superdawg x pineapple. On the grand opening of Hortipharm II on 4/20, J gave free cuts to his patients. He had like 15 different phenos of the Honey B at the grand opening of horti II, which had been sexed but not grown out to completion. I got phenos #2, #5 and #7. Well as Honey B contained superdawg which is a chemdawg relative, people started calling it new names with kush and diesal in it. A couple larger growers which got honey b cut #9, started supplying clubs in so cal with the name pineapple kush. I did'nt think much of the honey b's, and killed my mom's. It was a good yeilder and a pretty good strain, but I got tired of it real fast.

Reeferman was asked about the honey b in his vendor forum, and said that the honey b was actually an isolated pheno of his Love Potion strain. He said it was the "rootbeer pheno". Thus I am skeptical that the "pineapple diesel" contains any diesel in it

Excellent, great info to add to the thread! I feel you are on the right path and can see that happening especially with the renaming of the strains that occurs. I do get tired of it a bit and sometimes it doesn't pack the punch it has before, but when it does its a keeper for me. Id like to hear about some of the genetics your working with now, ill try to fire a PM sometime if you don't mind, thanks again for filling in some of the many blanks!

I have some grape ape here from a dispensary, cost me like 65 an eighth I think, and while the high isn't really unique, it is certainly as strong as Bubba Kush, NYCD, Bubble funk, or blueberry x white rhino, I'd say even O.G kush but I don't want to start off the rabid kush fans :)
