Man that is sad. I would definitely not get a new pitbull. I would do everything possible to get the dog back, sounds like grandpa left her out for the "Coyotes" to get. Terrible example of how the USA has let counties and states run amock desguised as "freedom".
I truly feel sad for you, I'd try everything I could to get her back. Chain yourself to a door, swallow the key, do something to attract local media attention to your beloved dog. Make her name be known and when she becomes a celebrity they won't do that?
