i agree, i had some pit breeder approach me a couple months ago asking $1,200 a dog. no way in hell would i pay that much for a dog when i can go to the shelter and save one.
true true.. you could use a small little pack out in the woods to defend your land

pup is lookin' great bro!!!!!

I agree and dis-agree w/ pikin' up a pup at the pound.

if your just looking for a buddy.....then PLEASE do nothing but pick up a dog at the pound.

if you have specific needs beyond just a "watch dog" then your prolly not gonna find him/her at the pound.

my pooch is a great pyrenees....and he was chosen because the single, only, #1 dog that my last guard dog liked was a GP.

...she was a pure bred komondor (dreadie dog)...and knew nothing but "guard dog" (she scared the shit out of everyone)...natural and very lightly trained....she would have killed or died for me.

my next pooch will be another Komondor tho, since they shed less/don't really shed.

I love my GP, but they are too much like me....they dont give a fuk, and you cant teach them anything...they do whatever they want, and they are too loving...yeah I said too loving.

we have a same age border collie too, and the BC is sooooo smart that she exploits the fact that yukon(GP) couldent care less.

"milla"...our old komondor would have killed the BC or any dog in her path 10x over by now.

trust me...this isnt a "friendly dog" (komondor):

how is that evo red meat and the canned wet doing for you now? i saw you said something about one of your dogs not eating the wet? eventully after a while my got tired of eating the same thing so now i give her the same evo red meat dry but i've been giving her this stuff from merrick pet foods called "smotherd comfort" and "wingaling" canned wet food and both of them have actual whole chicken wings and thighs inside the can.... i think my dog likes the chunks in it instead of eating the processed type food that is ground, even though your dog doesn't like that evo wet food he might like something like the wingaling or the smothered comfort simply because its whole chicken peices like something we would eat... anyway check it out and let me know how it works for you and your pups...

the puppy just licks the jucies off of it.. he prefers the dry food over the canned. The older dog preferrs the wet food, but i'm sticking her with the dry as well. The canned gives her the shits.
:spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

i will look for thos canned foods next time i'm at the pet shop

If I ever needed a guard dog, I'd get a dogo, a fila, or a tosa. If you broke into my house and met one of those you'd wish you were in another place real fast. The tosa would probably rip your throat out. While they are great guard dogs I've heard they are very good mannered and loyal/loving dogs with proper training and socialization.

but if I ever just wanted a buddy... gotta stick with the golden retrievers. intelligent, loving and very loyal I think they are amazing companion dogs.

i'm kind of afraid to get a dog though because i'd hate to have it die, would be the equivalent of having a family member die.
