This is my first run with taking clones from a mother plant and I'm a bit confused.

This is my gg4. I want to top it but it looks different than every plant ve seen on topping videos. Their plants are very straight forward that has a top and the next 2 branches coming in right next to each other. Well mine has a top with 1 branch on its side and the other one is lower. So what's going on here?

Abosolutly normal. A clone from a mature plant will show alternate phyllotaxy as opposed to a juvenile which will have side by side branching.

Immature plants from seed have branches that are side by side.
Clones have alterating branches because the mother plant is mature when they take the cuts from it.

A mature seed plant has alternating branches.
A clone taken from a plant has alternating branches.
If your looking to top a clone, to turn it into a mother plant to take clones from, Wait till it has 6 branches/nodes..... then top.
All the branches will grow into tops, and youll have a bush.
Veg that topped clone for about 30 days, then take your clones from it. :tiphat:

Take two fingers and gently place them right up your ass and sit on your hands. Don't touch them for a month. You may wanna stretch first. Just sayin'

I thought you where trying to take cuts from that..Even if the nodes are alternating you can still pinch off the top to get 2 main branches I do it all the time.

Damn fine 28 day specimen....

I'd say grow it sideways BlueBerry. When it's a foot tall slowly bend it and tie it to something at 90 degrees, that'll get you 6-10 cuts pretty fast.

Speaking of which, SCROG seems to be favored over SOG, who has numbers and why? Here's a shot and a joint, any input appreciated.

where ?? I don't see it lol.. SCROG is favored because gg#4 needs good support and is easy. SOG growers have many many plants too much work involved for me..

why not 4 3 gallon pots of coco ? many of us do it that way with great results !!
a GG4 Sog i don't think would work to well . GG throws branches like no other plant i've experienced ! you'd have to keep trimming branches off each plant to truely SOG them . more work than i want to deal with !

gg is a great yielding plant. People are getting 2lb per light or very close to that. I got 13.8oz from 1 plant in a 5g pot indoor.

My record is this Bubba S1 I got 170s grams off of in a 5gal dumbpot I drilled wholes in like a manic trailor park dweller. I think GG#4 could blow that out of the water if I do it right. 9x100 even is almost a kilo off a 600 watter. Cmon, I'm breakin my own balls ;)

no but a trailor park dweller is about to launch 9 5gals under a 600watter. I think I'm in for my best run even as long as it gets here before october.
