FYI: Glue does not like 7° trunk temps.

dont feel bad i once moved 40 plants 20 feet from a veg shed to an attached garage. we staged them quickly out side the door brigade style with three people. then quickly shuffled them into the garage flower room. took ten minutes. every plant died back to the root ball. they were 18 inches wide by 2.5 foot tall each. with no back ups and an empty flower room i ent from an excellent flip to no plants in ten short minutes. i had plants in a frost before and it was fine. i was wrong.
ten minutes is too long at 0 degrees for cannabis lol.
i lost 4-5 weeks and had to grow 8 different strains in that room from 4 different peoples grow room.
bummer.

yeah I am sure he is stuckkk, glued .
Right lol, if it's a worm I hope there are not more!
I think yer both guled lol. Looks like a mustache to me :D
That's what I thought when joesy made his comment and I looked. Then I thought it was a worm.

Crazy lookin buds! I'm pretty sure it's 2 little sugar leaves pointing in different directions.

That's what I'm hoping it is but won't find out until tomorrow.

Wow that is horrible. I never would think 10min would kill them all. I coulda used this one but its not a huge loss since I have many glues, just not as big. At least the bigger critical and DS survived the back seat as cops pass me going 50 in a snow storm. They looked like two bodies in trash bags buckled in for safety. Lol

yeah it was a duh moment. i half way thought about if it would be a problem and remembered that i had snow once on budlets in the garden that were fine. after all we arent going to let them stay out it will be a moment at most. meanwhile my eyelashes were freezing. i just wasnt thinking. i really actually thought theyy would be ok for a second. a second is always a minute and a minute is always 10. and ten minutes is a long second at those temps. i think the plants that were exposed the shortest amount of time actually recovered decently after about 7-10 days but htey still lost alot of thier most ariel exposed tender parts.

i also didnt take into consideration that those plants got that cold over the coarse of a 18 hour day to night cycle as the weather in general had been trending colder over a month. also that when there was snow it had only really barely dipped below freezing and may have not even been below 0 right at the leaf surface.
i took these plants out of a 70% humidity room at 80ish degrees and stuck them on the north poles, stomatas open as a dogs mouth in a parked car on the asphalt in midsummer afternoon in georgia.
they just straight up immediately died. the funny thing is if i hadnt killed them that way they would ve died that night anyway because little did i know the cold temps also rendered my residential grade minisplits useless. they couldnt handle the temps and went down to close to 0 capacity from lack of pressure from the lack of temp differential on which those compressors rely.
ive snce installed a 3 ton "p" series industrial load mitsubishi compressor for those rare cold nights. they work at near 100% at 0 degrees because they have a pressure head regulator that kicks in at these temps to maintain pressure. they are designed to cool the room that is heated by equipment (like a grow light for instance) at any outside ambient temp. residential units are designed to work at or abouve 70 degrees to cool "weather related" low btu load input temperature spikes.

A trick I use is contruction grade trash bags. I just put the whole plant in, container and all, keeps them insulated well enough I was able to load 27 plants into a uhaul and drive 15 min in 15f weather, unload them, and they all made it.

As for the ac woes, i know you upgraded, but for others you can set your ac to come on slightly after the lights, say 5-10 min that will heat the room up enough so when the ac powers on the heat load will be sufficient as to prevent slugging of the refridgerant .

Thank god Gil was right I took some more pics and I'm 100% it's two sugar leaves that make it look like it was a worm/mustache effect. Here is a pic from today and it's pretty clear cut.

I think me and joesy smoked too much glue last night and were tripping lol

maybe that helps a little but the problem is residential ac's are a poor choice for industrial loads in the winter.it works mostly but at a fraction of capacity.

its the outdoor temp not the indoor temp that causes the issue. the outdoor unit is too cold to function properly.

I understand that and should have also noted you need a low temp ambient kit.

My point is that when the ac powers on and there is no heat load in the room, the refrigerant never gets a chance to warm up before going back outside. If it goes back outside without being warmed you run a good chance of the still liquid refrigerant freezing(not so much freezing, but the compressor doesnt like pumping liquid) and the ac will stop working.

By running the lights 5-10 mins before the ac powers on you pre-load the room with some heat energy and it will help prevent slugging of refrigerant. Its worked down to about 0f for me running two ton with a 6kw heat load.
