Just want to say I was around IC on a different handle when GG4 orig cut thread started. I remember those wild days and I remember the birth of this sour bubble thread. Fucking good on you guys for keeping it going.

Truth there brotha, yesterday was 2010 it seems, time is happening fast. We are all getting older, my hips damn sure feel it.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right, always keep that in mind when its 6am and you want to sleep ;D

Cheers.

Day 21 of the nyco x gb. This is the cut I kept and one of the moms of the orange grapefruit rabbit hole. Grapefruit flavor on top of the glue funk. Killer combo. She gets down. See previous full plant shot last page...

Appreciate everyone who has stopped in on this long journey. We've been working toward a long term goal and we had a blast, had good times with a bunch of friends and smoked a shitload of good bud.

Where will they be available? I already have way too much running but anything with animal cookies screams try me, and having never ran any gorilla bubble or its crosses this will be great. I have ran gg#4 orig cut for about 2 years so I know that plant pretty damn well.

One benefit to the line breeding is GB is so compatible in taking on donor terp profiles. Its automatic.
Every outcross has been a test of the main line all the way up. I usually try to be humble but the gear is fire all the way through and every outcross!

This nyco x GB is my favorite outcross so far. The grapefruit on glue is oddly perfect. I get excited to smoke it lol.

All the love and support means a lot. All these lines have come from great friends and really without them all these years there is nothing. :tiphat:

Wife is doing well. Ornery as ever yall. Ha. Merry Christmas everyone here be good and enjoy your people.

Yo buckets. You got the eye bro. Good luck. Hope it's a girl. If it is a male keep it. Hes breeding gold. That is the archetype and exact male I look for when selecting. Damn I keep saying male. Hope I didn't jinx ya. That in my mind is the perfect pheno either way. I want to put the purple on that structure.

Hi Tony.
So when you did the bx's were you happy first time every time with the male selection or did you ever have to backtrack and re-select the male?
Do you feel this a gg4 seedline or something unique in itself?
I really like the work you've done.
I remember some years ago Chimera being critical of breeder steves bx work on the SPG. I cannot remember the details of that, whether it he was critical of back crossing technique or of the SPG as a candidate.
But I feel as though putting in the work, then you will find out. And if you go 3 gens of a particular line and have no improvement then thats your answer right there.

I get a feeling from sour bub that she subdues terpene aromas when crossed, and is more floral. What do you think? I guess this is easy to select away from in this instance with your cross and also the differences in structure no doubt.
Potency and frost from sour bub is indisputable.

Growing another round of my mystery gdubb (mgD) - got seeds mixed up and the mom is either gdubb or cjsb with pollen from 3 gdubb males.

I got one that looks like it's going to be male - and I swore to myself this would be a girls only run - but the stem rub is limes and stings my nose like an old marker. So needless to say it's resting my resolve. Happy the wife good/better. Happy holidays.

Idk what Chim would say but Tom Hill told me not to worry about what the next man is doing ha.

The initial plan was to do full sib, selfed and back crossed lines side by side. Tom would say why waste time go right to the selfed line lol.
Trouble is real glue s1 do not have a high frequency of gg4 phenotypes. Without marker assisted breeding you cant tell because they are mostly more indica dom and chem leaning.
At f3 of the full sib side we stopped. It produced some very nice plants but as you say sour b is very dominant. Glue phenos were not presenting at any higher frequencies than the s1.
Back crossing did make it possible to select properly. Both dan and I found incredible glue type males in the f2 but no distinctly glue females. Mostly hybrids still due to sour b dominance.
We started back crossing there. As we backcross we are segregating traits and frequency improved greatly.
I am one that beats the drum that back crossing alone will create a homozygous strain. We can more properly create homozygous gene pairs that affect certain traits.

So now in later backcross gens we see high frequency of plants that structurally grow and look like glue. We see the incredible glue branching traits
Breeding true even on the outcross. We see high resin production breeding true and in general high potency. (Has anyone ever had a truly bunk GB potency wise?)

What we also see those is terpenes profiles especially segrated even though the above traits are stable generally across the line. So you get better frequency on the stable traits but what's been shown is a widely variable nose on similar looking flowers.
We've seen raunchy skunky types, deep coffee kush like, bubble gum types, fruit types, dead meat, and it goes on. Mostly in general the loud skunky funky glue nose but much variation...

Ok well we have a huge developmental thread in the glue society but for technical reasons icmag cant transfer it out here in the open to join the Original Glue forum. Tons of good info in there but there is so much Dansbuds and I have been putting off starting a public thread due to the massive info and tedious nature of reposting it all, but she is one of our pride and joys so I guess it's time to begin the transcription.
Also comments and pics from various threads throughout testing and development pulled together into one place.
The group was made public by Dan so anyone can check it out.
The origins of Gorilla Bubble...
https://www.icmag.com/ic/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2822

It all started in the with the original F1...

From Dansbuds:

Thanx to a great dude here (Tony Green ) who had a sour bubble dad that was spectacular (fast , frosty & stanky strong) Him & I have some GG4 x SB seeds to go through & find a keeper mom & keeper dad . Tonys used to saving Dads & making F2's & crosses where I'm not , but if i find a nice dad outa these i'm going hang on to him & collect pollen for the first time . (so tony , i may be askin a ton of questions brutha )
So some F2's maybe in the near future if everything turns out the way we hope .
i know i suggested the SB dad cuz every cross i've ever seen with sour B in it .... the SB always dominates the cross . & i'm thinking if the SB added to GG4 may take care of that week branching that GG has & maybe loose some of the stretch too while keeping the frost & the power of the GG4 .... not that SB isn't powerful .... cuz it is , but the 2 combined should be a very interesting pairing !!!

You can also see progeny tests of my sour bubble male in Elements thread to see what he does.

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=277090

Thanks to Josey Wales and crew, Dansbuds, Elements, Whiteberries, and anyone else I may have missed that has been progeny testing these and run em, there are quite a few and without everyones effort we wouldnt have gotten this far.

We have currently released Gorilla Bubble BX2.
You can currently get them on seedbay right HERE!

What's coming for 4-20 is again a scheme suggested from Tom Hill.

2 separate gg4 near isogenic lines, mine with the sb donor and mycos with the chem donor.
Two separate inbred lines recombined. Tom suggested it may be enough to introduce heterosis or hybrid vigor. All told over a decades worth of inbreeding across both lines.

Certainly nothing remotely similar on the market from what I've seen!
