Good Books

I usually read reference books of some sort or the other and the occasional classic novel or interesting biography. I'm looking for some good books to read. I work in a book store, so I've got all acsess and if anyone would be able to recommend me a good book, that'd be nice. I was looking at Tolstoy's "War and Peace" and remember reading exerts from it, that's most likely going to be the next thing I get. But... I'm still looking for a new title to set my mind into. Anyhow, can some one recommend me a good book?

The Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield. Very interesting book of spiritual insight, an interesting way to present a possible next step of human evolution.

Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers - Rip Off Press :yummy:

The Bible - just to see what kind of horse-sh*t people can come up with when they have a couple of thousand years to get their stories straight (Also from Rip Off Press)
:fsu:
"I Am Not Spock" / "I Am Spock" - Leonard Nimoy. 2 books at different times in his life (First one when he DIDN'T need the money). Actually, scrap that - who gives a rats ass about Spock...

Anything by Heinlein... :chin:

Good Luck

beneath the wheel by herman hesse still haunts me occaiionally.

Sometimes a great notion by ken kesey

Bernard Cornwell has a trilogy about king arthur from a different perspective (guiennevere was a nympho, lancelot a coward etc) They were great.

Pillars of the Earth by ken follet..

Wasting police time by David Copperfield. It's a hilarious look at UK policing from the polices point of view. Very helpful hints hidden in there too.....

I don't give names: Yes, I would highly recomend War and Peace....it can be a battle but it honestly changed the way I look at life.

If you are a hunter or fisher you cant pass up Patrick F McManus. The books are collections of stories he writes for various publications.

Each story is a complete story. All the characters rather flat. Yet if you read a couple of books the Characters become very round. Basically it is like sitting down and reading really far fetched hunting and fishing stories. With some other stuff Pat encounters throughout life.

Pretty much anything by Steve Ambrose is worth the time to read.

I guess my Geeky side makes an appearance when it comes to book, as I am a huge Fantasy fan! Ive read many classics, Hemmingway, Shakespear, etc...but when I read, I like to be taken to another place, somewhere I could never be....something about Magic and Dragons that facinates me!

Either way, Im reading a great series now called The Obsidian Trilogy - by Mercedes Lackey...second book Im on now is even better than the first (doesnt happen often!)

Would love to hear if anyone else around these parts likes Fantasy as well.

Peace
