Putt putt golf is pretty fun if you're high enough.

Croquet is where it's at though. When you're playing croquet, sometimes you think you're a member of English aristocracy . . . and sometimes you think you're god . . .

Played with good friends, buds and Budweiser: NO MONEY on the side: that's how we stay good friends. Tee times before 7am.. less rain, more eagles (American Eagles), otters, turtles, owls, pigs, hawks, sand hill cranes, snakes, alligators, bobcats (a few times) panther (once) and other birds and reptiles.

Golfin for 55 years, started by caddying, guess you could say that caddying is a gate way, to golf, drug .

I worked selling cars for a couple years and they were golf nuts. We had to all go on team building golf outings. I would take my fishing pole and fished all the ponds. It was great. They all laughed but they let me.

Then at dinner the dealership owner gave people prize money for low score, high score, most puts on one green.. stuff like that. He gave everybody 6 tees with the company logo before we started play. He said I will give anybody $100 for every unbroken logo tee you have. A couple people had one. I had 5. I would have had 6 but I tried using one for a float bobber. I got $500 for fishing.

I have always been into sports , little league , pop warner, high school baseball , high school football , college baseball , fast pitch softball , was a rock climber college age ,had a competitive nature most of my life , then I got old, used to play golf a lot , it is one of the hardest sports there is,,, that is to shoot what you are supposed to shoot,, , and that is par,, , if you can shoot par on any regulation size golf course any time you play , you can call it a game . I think this is why some people get addicted because it is a super challenge to beat the golf course and shoot par....It is very rare for non pros to beat the golf course , then there is the part about walking around in nature for 5 hrs

If golf isn't a sport neither is baseball. Most of the teams stand around all game and how often does a pitcher even play?
To be great at golf involves a huge amount of physical training, just like baseball or hockey or any other sport..which they all are.

a famous golfer was talking to a famous baseball player once. the ball player said "hell, anyone can hit a golf ball, it's just sitting there. a baseball is coming in at you nearly 100 miles per hour..."
golfer replies "yeah, but you don't have to go up into the stands & play your fouls from where they land..." golf, a sport that involves hitting a small ball with implements ill-suited to the task. no one ever got bitten by a venomous snake, nor attacked by alligators, crocodiles, elephants nor hippos while playing baseball. a ball players biggest worry is cancer of the mouth or throat from chewing tobacco/Skoal, or trying to scratch what itches on national television...

We need to call a pot smoking and alcohol drinking he-man meeting in a secluded place to hammer this sports and games stuff out. It is going to involve a lot of sports and games too.

IMO golf was more of a sport when they were using the curved stick or a shepherd's hook. They had to alter their swing for distance. Now they have a different sloped club head to dictate what distance range the ball will travel.

I don't want to disrespect golfers either. They still have to be good at what they do. I still consider them athletes. There is a athlete ranking too but they are athletes. Race car drivers are not fucking athletes.

Practice has more of an influence on golf then baseball, soccer or football. You have to practice less things. You never have to play golf against a defender.

Golf to me is the sports/game level of bowling. They both require some physical skill and practice. You can be respected amongst sports/game players of all kind if you are good at them.

If golf is a sport then bowling, archery and fishing should be sports.

What about horseshoes? I forgot about freakin horseshoes. Some of the parties I go too if you rule the horseshoe pits you are a god and will probably get laid.

Darts? Where does it fit?

Last one. If golf is a sport then billiards is a sport.

Sidebar...

Magic Cards is just as complicated to play and takes just as much brain power as chess!

iTarzan slams the microphone down to the ground and walks off to drink and smoke....

and its a game i played sunday , hit a 108-110 or something in there. my goal is a sub 100 handicap before june '16
I have only taken it seriously over the last 9 months, and Ive prolly hit a good 3000 balls to get down from 145 ish
Im half blind and have never been athletically inclined, so I dont expect to ever be more than a mid 80s guy
however golf is more of a bonding thing for me , and I get to spend a few hours with family and friends, goofing off, smoking and drinking a bit. and get some excercise

Sports are more physical and fluid, games are more stationary and mental

Sports take heart, games take brains, but you need both of all for all noted to function
