Going to Scotland, would like to visit Amsterdam

Hey all,

I'm an American and I'm going to Scotland later this year, and am thinking about going over to Amsterdam for a day. I really don't have much time to spend there, but figure if I can hop over to the 'dam for a day I'd do it.

Anyone know how much it costs (roughly) and how long it takes to go from Glasgow to Amsterdam?

I don't really think I could stay a night there, so hopefully get there early in the morning and leave in the evening.

I'll probably pick up some seeds and maybe some hash, anyone got any ideas on how to bring the stuff back? Might want to PM me that info.

I've been reading on here about what people say to check out, but as I said, I really won't have much time, so what's some places that I MUST see?

Also, Amsterdam uses the euro correct? and I know the UK is still on the pound, I can exchange the currency at the airport? or any bank?

Hi kingspade

do it, man, sod the cost. You may find it cheaper to fly to amsterdam from London.
There is also a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Just google: ferry, newcatle, amsterdam. Newcastle is an hour or so from Edinburgh. Could be fun!

Amsterdam is pretty expensive, I have to say, especially for accommodation. Try to book in advance because everything will be full by the time you get there.

. Must see - van Gogh museum and the botanical gardens. Must smoke - at the Greenhouse coffeeshops! let me knnow if you want recommendations for either coffeeshops or restaurants as i have a good list of both!

I have a thread on smoke reports on good smokes from recent visits to Amsterdam, you may want to check it out

You can change sterling to euro and euro to sterling at the Post Office in the UK (in major cities and towns).

Happy travelling :D
