The fence should be dog proof if its not it isn't goat proof.

goats are so much cleverer than they are given credit for.. they will chew anything green.. really they need a small stable or similar hut with hay.. been like 15 years since i had goats but i would like to again when i move..

chickens would be better, it seems intimidating but its easy and doesn't cost that much.. and you may have to ring one's neck at some point..

Reminds me of two old sayings.. Get ur goat... And choke ur chicken ..lol not sure if the last one was a old saying ...
