Glades Electric Cooperative offers $500 bounty for marijuana grow houses

It's what he gets for being a thief. Even if it was legal to grow - he'd still be breaking the law. Also an electric cooperative is a group of people who buy electricity at wholesale and distribute it to themselves. So basicly he's stealing from the neighborhood. All these people ragging on snitches would most likely call the police if their own car was stolen, ie. "snitch" to the cops. Same thing in this situation.

To sum it all up - Stealing is bad.

Ha touche, I like it... I am getting tired of paying for this "delivery" charge every month anyway.
lol herd that shit do ya know what the delivery charge is for ???

few yrs ago i called and asked wtf ya'll truckn my power to me now they said nope the delivery charge is for the natural gas used to create the power you consume. remember chenys yr absense after 9/11 he went into hiding came out with a seceret energy bill, wouldnt tell the american consumers it's contents. but we find out the contents as our bills raise and new charges are added. my power company wants to raise my rates by 17% this yrlast yr was about the same rate hike every since enron ppl in my state have been screwed. we had to pay approx 1bill in rate hikes to cover bad investments out power comapny made during and after enron. now they want 17% rate hike to keep thier investers happy Fthem.
next month my power rates go down anyways some1 in my house turns 62 :woohoo:. we'll pay a lower rate then

haven your car stolen is way different then stealing power from your coop. my nephews mustang 1987 was stolen yea i called the pigs to report it. but i also hunted the MFer down every night for 2 wks tryn to find his punk ass on my own. cruisn back alleyways where cracks being sold cruisn through gang ridden hood searchn calln him by name. Jaun ohhhhh Jaun i want my Fn mustang back i'm gonna find you in it and get you. trust me i did that every night the car was recovered 3 month later stripped. if i ever see that apocolypto lookn M Fer i'll pull him from his car seat where ever i see him and make sure he'll never steal a car again. yes he'll still breath when i'm done just wont be abel to drive stolen cars no more

My thing is, there was NOTHING in the story indicating that the guy was bypassing the meter to get power. If he WAS paying the bill and then got snitched on, as I'm reading it seems he did, the snitches ARE at fault.

I'd like more info about this because this smells to me like someone snitching another person for the price of an extra value meal.

The thing with this is blackmail... Alot of people are going to try and extort grow houses for much more then 500.. They can simply go to a known grower and say "pay me $1000 a week or else I will turn you in". Then this provides the grower(s) with a dilema.. Either pay the money or kill the extortionist.. This is bad news all around..

Yeah, dude wasn't charged with stealing power.

Power employee dropped a dime on him because he said he smelled weed.

Not that dilema, you tell him to come to you the day after telling you're giving him the money, you hide a camera n film you giving him the money, that way once you have the video you'll tell him that if he blackmails you again you won't pay, and if he turns you in he'll be charged too... you do have to pay but only once lol

The residence was maintained as if occupied, but there was never anyone home during the day.

Isn't there a little thing called: WORK?

WTF has the world come to when it's unusual for people to NOT be home during the day?

some of you cats need to work on your reading comprehension.

the story mentions that there was an "electrical diversion" near the power meter. "diversion" sure sounds like stealing juice to me.....

secondary issue this guy did not have his odor control on properly. You can come to my door anyday of the week, and you ain't gonna smell shit to do with herbs.

peace

My reading comprehension is fine, I just don't "read into" it things that aren't.

was arrested Wednesday and charged with production of marijuana, trafficking marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

One of the employees, while speaking with the suspect, thought he could smell marijuana coming from inside the house. Because of the smell and the electrical problem, the man called the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, according to the arrest report.

Investigators also reportedly found an electrical diversion near the electrical meter, a cut PVC pipe, several air conditioning units, plant containers and a water supply line made from garden hoses.

But no charges for stealing juice and the co-op worker called the cops because of a smell, not because he was bypassing the meter. Seems to me that if he was bypassing the meter then he'd have been charged for it as the co-op were the ones that brought the heat in the first place.

I have added a "diversion" to my electrical system, but I'm not stealing power. I just used it to supply more service to where it was inadequate. Of course, mine looks like a pro did it and not just bare romex tacked up on the side of the building.

IMHO folks in that area should carpet bomb that utility company with false reports.

Bury them in so much shit that they can't catch anyone...

speaking of power companies getting a tad too nosy...just yesterday a survey popped up on my screen during my time on the website paying my elec bill stating my service seems out of the ordinary compared with my neighbors and "perhaps we can help if you give us more information...blah blah blah". it asked me about my appliances, people in home and questions about my a/c and heater. i answered each one with bogus info (5 people live here, what temps the furnace and a/c is kept, etc etc etc) and when done it gave me a note congratulating me on my economical use of power! my bill's not that bad from what i hear about others (mine is usually in the 230-250 range) doing what we do. but for instance my live-alone next-door neighbor's bill is less than 25/mo and house on other side is 40-60 and they do have 5 people living there (an extended family of mexi's). anyways, i was just a little concerned at 1st but after "explaining" my power usage to that survey all seems well now...i'm turning off the flower room soon anyway and will just be running a 430 in the veg room over the summer.

Sounds good, but then how do you feel when they take 100 plants out of that house that belongs to the couple you'd never suspect was involved? Because if you're doing it right, that should be the perception.

Ow, that would suck - I certainly would hope that wouldn't happen, my intent was more to flood them with so many "tips" that none would get investigated.

I never think things through - hence my recent 23rd wedding anniversary...

I totally agree with you!

Done properly, this type of counter intelligence can be very effective.
